🌊 Pipeline safety and the view from the water. We joined the Pipeline Safety Trust for a boat tour through Bayou Bienvenue in New Orleans.
The site of a reported pipeline incident revealed the dangers of pipelines running beneath Louisiana’s waterways. We learned how corrosion, coastal erosion, shifting wetlands and activities like dredging or anchoring can damage underwater pipelines, potentially causing dangerous leaks.
Along the way, we saw natural gas pipeline infrastructure alongside beautiful coastal marshes and wildlife. We learned about the importance of pipeline inspections, maintenance and protecting our wetlands.
