College Success Foundation is absolutely honored (and very excited!) to be one of the recipients of the BECU's Foundation's Right Now Grant. Our partnership with BECU has already created many opportunities for students across Washington, and this additional investment will let us deepen and expand that work.

This generous grant will enable more students to access and succeed in college through the BECU Scholarship Program we administer. It will also help students build financial wellness skills that support economic mobility. We thank you, BECU!

What stands between a student's aspirations and their achievement is often not talent or ambition, but access to resources and support.

In today's The Seattle Times, Mike Cheever, President & CEO of College Success Foundation, Ian Faley, executive vice president of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Skagit County, and Mike Preiner, founder of the Math Agency, explore how the new Federal Scholarship Tax Credit could help create new pathways to opportunity for young people in our state.

"This kind of support will also help more kids go to college. Nearly 90% of Washington high school students say they want to pursue education after high school, but just over half enroll in college."

If Washington state opts in, beginning Jan. 1, 2027, the Federal Scholarship Tax Credit will allow any Washington state taxpayer to direct up to $1,700 of their federal tax liability to education nonprofits, including public school foundations and many other youth-serving organizations.

Surprise! FAFSA opened early today, kicking off financial aid season a little ahead of schedule. 🙌🏽🎓

For Angelica, College Success coaches helped her apply for scholarships, review financial aid packages, and navigate the college-going process as a first-generation student at Seattle Pacific University.

Completing the FAFSA or WASFA is necessary for students to access grants, scholarships, work-study opportunities, and other financial aid that can make college more affordable.

As the first in her family to pursue a college degree, Scholar Jocelyn is turning her passion for healthcare into action. Currently studying medical anthropology and global health at the University of Washington, her goal is to help people feel truly heard and supported.🎓🩺

Having College Success Foundation as a support system has kept her on track. “From high school through college, I've had people I could turn to when I had questions or just needed reassurance that I was on the right path.”

As the first in her family to pursue a college degree, College Success Foundation Scholar Aniya is creating a new path for herself.🎓

After graduating from Mount Tahoma High School and earning her medical assistant certification while in high school, she is beginning her nursing journey with valuable healthcare experience as a foundation for her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree at St. Martin's University.🏥

For many first-generation students, making it to year two means they've already overcome significant barriers and built strong momentum toward graduation.
