“For the first time in American history, the Office of the U.S. Surgeon General is issuing an official advisory warning parents and the public about the dangers of excessive screen time and harmful digital media exposure for children.”

This is a conversation families can no longer afford to ignore.

From mental health impacts to online exploitation, harmful content exposure, and addictive platform design, children today are growing up in a digital environment that was never built with their safety as the priority.

Parents deserve transparent information.
Children deserve safer digital spaces.
And tech companies must do more to prioritize child safety over engagement metrics.

Thank you to HHS and leaders bringing national attention to this urgent issue.

NOWTX was honored to attend Senator Tan Parker's Texas Anti-Human Trafficking Summit at SMU this week alongside advocates, law enforcement, educators, survivors, and leaders committed to ending exploitation in Texas.

Our co-founder, Andrea Galliano Sparks, was proud to stand with Senator Parker and so many dedicated frontline voices working to strengthen protections for vulnerable Texans and combat human trafficking across our state.

These conversations matter. Collaboration matters. Action matters.

As we head toward the next legislative session, NOWTX remains committed to advancing solutions that protect children, support survivors, and hold perpetrators accountable.

Thank you, Senator Parker, for your continued leadership in this fight.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: The TAKE IT DOWN Act is now officially in effect. 🚨

This landmark federal law requires websites, apps, and online platforms to remove intimate images shared without consent within 48 hours after a valid report is made — including duplicates. The law applies to both real and AI-generated (“deepfake”) images and videos.

If a platform fails to comply, reports can now be made directly to the FTC at TAKEITDOWN.ftc.gov.

This is a critical step forward in protecting children, teens, and survivors from online exploitation and image-based abuse.

At NOWTX, we believe survivors deserve swift action, meaningful protection, and accountability from the tech companies that allow this harmful content to spread. Prevention, enforcement, and survivor support must go hand in hand.

No one should have to fight alone after experiencing this kind of abuse — and today marks important progress toward a safer digital world.

So honored to stand alongside courageous parents and advocates at the Mother’s Day Rally for Online Safety at the U.S. Capitol in support of the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA). 💚💜

NOWTX was proud to join and a small but mighty team from Texas led by the incredible Molak, who turned unimaginable loss into powerful advocacy after losing her son David to cyberbullying at just 15 years old.

We were encouraged to hear Senator Ted Cruz commit to marking up KOSA in committee and working to get it passed in the Senate. We look forward to continuing to work with his office to help make meaningful online safety protections for children a reality.

Now, our focus turns to the House of Representatives — and we need more voices in this fight.

Amazing work that often goes unseen and unnoticed — but so very important.

We are grateful for the people working every day behind the scenes to protect children, support families, and make online spaces safer. These efforts matter more than most will ever know. Thank you for continuing to stand in the gap.

Senator John Cornyn recognizes the leadership of Senator Angela Paxton in advancing critical protections for children online.

Her work on the App Store Accountability Act and Trey’s Law, along with her strong advocacy for states’ rights to regulate Big Tech, represents meaningful progress in safeguarding kids in the digital age.

NOWTX is proud to have supported these efforts—at the state and federal level—helping move forward policies that put child safety first.

Protecting children online requires collaboration, persistence, and leadership. This is what that looks like.

Monitoring alone won’t keep kids safe online — and deep down, most parents already know that.

This Forbes piece highlights something we see every day: the digital world is evolving faster than the tools meant to protect children. Simply watching, tracking, or limiting screen time isn’t enough anymore.

Real safety comes from something deeper:
✔️ Ongoing conversations
✔️ Digital awareness and critical thinking
✔️ Equipping kids to recognize risk and respond in real time

Because the truth is — kids don’t just need protection.
They need preparation.

A new wave of digital safety is emerging — one focused on coaching, not just control.

At NOWTX, we believe protecting children online starts with empowering families, strengthening awareness, and building systems that actually keep up with today’s threats.

Words matter—especially when it comes to protecting children.

The term “child pornography” shifts blame onto the child and minimizes the abuse they’ve endured. The correct term—CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material)—makes it clear: these are crime scene images documenting the sexual abuse of a child.

At NOWTX, we believe in calling this what it is. Clarity in language leads to accountability, stronger laws, and better protection for children.

We stand with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children in raising awareness and pushing for a shift that puts responsibility where it belongs—on the perpetrators, not the victims.

This matters.

On Monday, Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows (Dustin Burrows for Texas) called for an investigation into online gaming platforms like Roblox, following reports of harmful and deeply inappropriate content accessible to children—including simulations of real-world violence.

This is leadership—and it’s exactly the kind of action Texas families deserve.

At NOWTX, we thank Speaker Burrows for recognizing what so many parents already know: our kids are being exposed to risks online that demand stronger accountability, smarter safeguards, and real solutions.

We stand ready to support his office and lawmakers across Texas with resources, expertise, and advocacy to help keep children safer online.

Because protecting kids in today’s world means addressing what’s happening on their screens—not just in their classrooms.

We’re encouraged by this step forward—and committed to being part of what comes next.

BIG news for Texas girls 👏

Girl Scouts of Central Texas just launched a new online safety patch, helping girls learn how to recognize threats, set boundaries, and stay safe in the digital world.

This is exactly the kind of proactive, protective education our kids need right now.

At NOWTX, this is the mission in motion.
But here’s the truth…

We cannot do this without our mama bears. 🐻

The women who step up.
Who pay attention.
Who speak up.
Who refuse to let kids navigate the online world alone.

If you’ve ever felt that pull to protect, to lead, to make a difference—this is your moment.

👉 Join us. Stand with us. Help us grow the movement.

Because when mama bears rise… kids are safer. Period.
