On October 7, the Fulton County Board of Commissioners proclaimed October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.💜

We’re honored that Fulton County recognized our Safe and Stable Families Project and the importance of free legal advocacy for survivors. Through Standing with Survivors, our mobile advocacy van brings that help directly to people, and we helped nearly 600 survivors in 2025.

Thank you Fulton County Government for standing with survivors, and to everyone who makes this work possible.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Tenant Legal Clinic last Wednesday!💚

We were so glad to connect with neighbors who came out with questions about mold, evictions, and their rights as renters. A big thank you to our incredible volunteer lawyers who gave their time and expertise to answer questions, provide guidance, and connect attendees with resources.

Another huge thank you to AVLF's Standing with Our Neighbors (SWON) for making this event possible, and to the APS Student & Family Support Hub for generously sharing their space with us. 💚

To kick off Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our Safe and Stable Families team(SSF) sat down for coffee with the Union City Police Department. ☕

We shared the services SSF offers, discussed training opportunities AVLF can provide to officers on Intimate Partner Violence and Temporary Protective Orders, and highlighted services provided by the mobile advocacy van named Pearl.

Thank you to Chief of Police Cassandra Jones and Interim Assistant Chief Barry Walker for welcoming us and for your commitment to partnering with our community. They also invited the department to join us at their National Night Out tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 6th. We look forward to working together to support survivors!

💜 October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. 💜

At AVLF, we see every day what's possible when a survivor has someone in their corner. A protective order. A safe custody arrangement. A path out of a dangerous home. These aren't just legal outcomes, they're safety.

This month, we're sharing the stories and the real work behind that safety, from our Safe Families Office at the Fulton County Courthouse to our Standing With Survivors Mobile Advocacy Team meeting people where they are.
