At A.G. Rhodes, we are proud to celebrate the rich heritage, culture and contributions of the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, including those of A.G. Rhodes team members like Gesila Koven, Director of Clinical Reimbursement.
Gesila grew up in Bohol, a small province in the Philippines, where elders are most often cared for within the family. For Gesila, helping care for her grandparents quietly shaped a calling she would come to embrace years later when she came to the United States and began working in long-term care.
She recalls sitting with residents and hearing stories of love, resilience, and reunion; moments that transformed how she saw her role. “You realize every person has a story. That really stayed with me.”
That realization led to a lifelong commitment to elder care and a career spanning clinical and leadership roles. “I truly feel like this is where I belong,” she said. “This is what I’m meant to do.”
Gesila’s path to elder care is rooted in family, compassion and a calling to make a difference in the lives of others. Read more of her story here: https://www.agrhodes.org/blog/blog/aapimonth/
