We actively seek out the employees that other staffing companies turn away. We're fighting homelessness and poverty in Atlanta with jobs. First Step seeks to help military veterans, people with disabilities, previously incarcerated men and women, and those experiencing homelessness. We make it easier to get back to work, by providing wrap-around services for our employees including job coaching, r

ides to work and uniform materials when necessary. We take walk-ins to our office at 236 Auburn Ave (suite 203) Monday through Friday mornings at 9AM. Two forms of ID are required for application. If you're unable to work, First Step Benefits has attorneys on staff to help you make the most of the government support available to you. Our mission has always been about more than employment — it’s about helping people create stability, purpose, and a better future for themselves and their families.

Gregory was one of those people.

When he first came in for his interview, he was guarded. But little by little, his guard came down — because to us, our clients are more than just an application or a job placement. They’re people with stories, goals, families, and futures that matter.

As Gregory opened up, he shared his determination to build a better life for himself and his family, and in the process, he left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though Gregory passed in 2024, his strength, resilience, and determination continue to inspire us every day.

It’s stories like Gregory’s that give us the motivation to continue this work, grow our impact, and help even more individuals find opportunity, stability, and hope through employment. His story will always remain part of our mission — and a reminder of why second chances matter so much.
