Our East Lake Foundation - Resident & Community Support Program team was proud to join fellow community partners at the Adopt-a-Spot Proclamation and Certificate Distribution Reception, hosted by the City of Atlanta Department of Public Works and the Keep Atlanta Beautiful Commission.

The celebration brought a few special connections, including with KABC’s Terez Chapman, former East Lake Foundation intern turned family, and with renowned Atlanta architects, William Stanley III and Ivenue Love-Stanley, the first Black architecture graduates from Georgia Tech.

It takes many hands to keep Atlanta and East Lake beautiful. We’re happy to do our part.

Thanks to our program partners at Goizueta’s Business & Society Institute and Start:ME Atlanta for sharing new research on small business activity across the U.S. and what helps entrepreneurs build sustainable businesses.

The takeaway? Entrepreneurial potential exists across communities, and strong support systems can help turn that potential into thriving local businesses.

Providing that support is what Start:ME is all about.

Last spring, Alex Garcia, owner of Madre Garcia's, graduated from the Start:ME Atlanta East Lake cohort and received a $4,000 grant to help grow his business.

The funding helped him purchase a commercial refrigerator, giving him more capacity for catering events and farmers markets.

But for Alex, Start:ME’s impact went beyond the grant:

“The most valuable part was the amazing community I found — new friends and mentors who challenged me, supported me, and believed in my vision.”

That’s Start:ME at work: training, mentorship, connections and capital helping local entrepreneurs take their next step.

Could you be next? Applications for the 2027 Start:ME cohort are open through October 1.

The East Lake Women’s Alliance recently launched a new year of Sister Circle with Charles R. Drew Charter School junior and senior girls.

The program creates space for connection, encouragement, advice and support as students prepare for a successful school year, college, careers and life beyond graduation.

It’s a meaningful example of the Women’s Alliance in action: women investing their time, experience and resources in the next generation of East Lake.

Every quarter, we take a little time to connect, recharge and have some fun together.

Our Q3 team outing brought us to Activate Games for interactive challenges and plenty of laughs, followed by a delicious meal at South City Kitchen Buckhead.

A good reminder that doing meaningful work together is even better when you make time to enjoy each other, too.

Any suggestions for our Q4 outing?

Renee Powell is a living legend in the game of golf.

In 1967, she became the second African American woman to compete on the LPGA Tour. She is head golf professional at Clearview Golf Club and a member of the PGA of America Hall of Fame.

We’re proud to honor history-making legends like Renee Powell through our Party on the Green sponsorship packages.

A limited number of packages also include playing spots in the East Lake Cup Collegiate Am-Am, offering an even more memorable way to be part of this year’s celebration.

Harold Dunovant made history as the first African American to graduate from the PGA’s Business School and went on to leave a lasting mark on the game as a professional golfer and founder of the National Black Golf Hall of Fame.

He and his son, Jeff, who coached Drew Charter's boys golf team to win the state championship in 2019, also became the first African American father-son duo to earn PGA Quarter Century Member status.

We’re proud to honor his legacy through the Harold Dunovant sponsorship package at Party on the Green on October 24, 2026.

Join us for an evening of celebration, community and impact benefiting the East Lake Foundation.

Big news for Charles R. Drew Charter School kindergartners.

Two new Wealth Builds opportunities will help students begin building financial security from the very start.

And Drew seniors, there’s something in here for you too. Watch to the end.
