"In Sunday school each week, it is my goal, if I don’t do anything else - to remind the kiddos that Jesus loves them always and no matter what. And we regularly discuss how we know Jesus loves us and how we can share that love with others.

But when sharing that love is risky, it can be difficult to take the first step. Especially in the face of many others telling you not to.

And even if you take the first step, doubt creeps in - or maybe knocks you down. And if you are met with resistance and doubt from others, it can be even harder to take another step. It seems much easier to just sit down. Take shelter in the boat and wait it out.

But God’s love is present in all kinds of weather. On good days and the worst days. God loves us and them equally and boundlessly.

So, as long as any of God’s children are not being treated as fully human, fully worthy, and fully loved as they are, it is time for holy trouble.

As long as our siblings are deemed “less than” because they look different than those in leadership positions, or speak another language, or are disabled, or not as wealthy, or in need of any basic care, we need to make holy trouble."

- Rev. Colleen DeGraff Holtz, Aug 9, 2026.

Our 40s-&-under Zoom book group is back tonight! Mostly in our 20s and 30s, we meet weekly on Thursdays at 8p. This is a great way to meet people and make friends within the broader church community.

After a summer break, we are discussing ch9 of our current book, How the Bible Actually Works by Pete Enns. But we’d still love to see you even if you haven’t read. Email [email protected] for more info.
