Doggie Harmony is a non-profit (501c3), GA-licensed rescue group focused on matching right people to right dogs in Atlanta. Available dogs are often found by Good Samaritans, come from 'death row' of animal control, or are with owners who seek to relinquish. Secondary to our dog placement objective, we sponsor spay/neuter, wellness, training and boarding to keep or place dogs in happy homes. has t

he highest incidence of unwanted pets and the shelters supported by its county government are so over-populated, that they have to put animals to sleep as often as weekly to make room for new arrivals. For this reason, we partner with many northern rescue groups to make GA dogs available for adoption there and have successfully sent hundreds of dogs to their forever homes up there. We are foster-based and do not have a shelter. Unfortunately, this means we are not able to intake urgent dogs in need. For those willing to house/foster dogs, we are happy to help you re-home this pooch. Hudson, our very best athlete, is representing Doggie Harmony today at the Atlanta Wild Animal Rescue Effort (AWARE) 🐾 He’ll be joined by 'weekend foster' Jenny Miller (mom of Doggie Harmony alum Noah), with volunteer Pam Heiges holding down the info booth.

Hudson has been dreaming of a running buddy for 2 years—and he’s still waiting. He’s currently in a loving but busy foster home and would thrive with someone who can give him that daily runner's high he's been jonesin' for!

If you’re at the race, come meet him! He’ll be there from just before 6 PM until the event wraps up.

😿 This 6–8 week old long-haired kitten was found crying under a car in our neighborhood. He’s safe for now in a garage, but only temporarily.

🌶 He’s a little spicy (probably born to a feral mama), but young enough to tame with patience and TLC. Our rescue will help guide foster through vetting and adoption support.

If we can’t find a foster or foster-to-adopt home soon, he may have to go to the shelter. Please message us if you can help — or share to help this tiny fluffball find safety. 💛

🚨 RESCUE GROUPS NEEDED NOW 🚨
In Charlton County, GA, rescuers with Heart 2 Heart Animal Welfare Organization are standing in the dirt trying to save lives with almost no resources and nowhere for these dogs to go.

💔 8 adult dogs
💔 16 puppies
💔 3 mothers, but only ONE is able to nurse all 16 babies
💔 Every dog needs veterinary care
💔 One female has wounds on her neck, legs, and face

And here’s the heartbreaking reality:

The Department of Agriculture cannot remove these dogs unless rescues step up with placement commitments first.

This is what animal rescue looks like in the South every single day. Overcrowded shelters. Unfixed animals. Generations of suffering. And exhausted rescuers begging for help before it’s too late.

🐾 “Please Don’t Make Me Go Back Inside” — Meet Andi 💔

Have you ever looked into a dog’s eyes and felt like they were speaking directly to you? That was Andi.

Last weekend, I passed this beautiful brindle girl outside the shelter with her temporary foster, and without saying a word, she seemed to plead: “Please don’t make me go back in there.”

Andi is about 40 pounds of gentle soul wrapped in a stunning brindle coat and the most expressive ears you’ve ever seen. She’s quiet, low-key, and incredibly sweet. She likes other dogs, calmly ignored chickens on a walk (which gives us hope she may be cat-friendly too), and seems happiest simply being near kind people.

But the shelter has her absolutely terrified — shaking like a leaf in her kennel.
Her weekend foster can’t keep her long-term, and she desperately needs a soft place to land. Please consider helping this sweet gentle soul.

✨ MAX UPDATE ✨

Remember Max? At the very last minute, our board member Amy stepped in and gave him a safe place to land — a spot in her climate controlled garage, a yard to enjoy, and the chance to finally decompress. ❤️

Over the next few months, Amy helped Max come off his anxiety meds, introduced him to her pack, and watched him blossom. She also connected with her friend Brian in NC, who offered to foster Max.

And well… foster “failure” alert. 😭❤️

Brian officially became Max’s forever dad, and these two are truly meant for each other — best friends and two peas in a pod. 🐾

We’re so grateful for the fosters, adopters, volunteers, and connections that make happy endings like Max’s possible. Second chances save lives. ❤️

🙌UPDATE/FOSTER FOUND: One of our board members stepped up to do a quarantine foster for a week to help dispel worries from foster family about the ringworm. Mama will return to orginal foster family just after that. But thank you for being willing!

🚨 URGENT: Mama Needs a Safe Place to Land 🚨

Mama survived 2 months on a construction site while raising 8 puppies outdoors. Every one of her babies has now found placement… but Mama’s future is suddenly uncertain due to a suspected case of ringworm.

She is only about a 1 old 45 and is the sweetest girl — gentle, loving, dog-friendly, great on leash, calm in the car, and learning how wonderful indoor life can be. After everything she’s survived, she deserves stability and love, not more upheaval. ❤️

Ringworm is treatable and manageable, and rescue will support her care. Please don’t let a temporary issue keep this amazing girl from finally getting safely inside.
