RedefinED Atlanta

RedefinED Atlanta RedefinED Atlanta is a locally based nonprofit working to ensure every Metro Atlanta student has access to trajectory-changing K-12 public education options.

redefinED atlanta is a 501(c)(3) public education non-profit founded in 2016 with the vision to transform Atlanta into a place where every student in every community receives a great K-12 public education. We believe that empowered communities, strong school-level talent, and an equitable system are necessary for great schools, so we partner with community and grant funds to invest in these sustaining factors.

– Helping direct funding to community-driven solutions

It’s immersive, practical, and built for people who want to move from awareness to action.

Hearing directly from past fellows says it best.

The Atlanta Changemakers for Education Fellowship (A.C.E.) builds on the same impact our ARISE alumni are talking about here. Learning how the system works, building real relationships, and finding ways to take action for students.

The name may be new, but the experience is grounded in what has already made a difference for leaders across our community. If you’ve been thinking about getting more involved, this is a great place to start.

Don’t just learn the system. Help improve it.

Applications are now open for the Atlanta Changemakers for Education (A.C.E.) Fellowship, a hands-on, nine-month experience for leaders who want to better understand public education and take action to change it.

This isn’t a sit-and-listen program. Fellows engage in real work through policy discussions, field trips, community engagement, and even participatory grantmaking.

If you care about students in Metro Atlanta and want to deepen your impact, this is worth a look.

Behind every strong school are teachers who care deeply about their students.

Teacher Appreciation Week is a moment to say thank you, but it also raises a bigger question: what does real support for teachers look like the rest of the year?

In our latest blog, we share what we’re hearing directly from educators and why investing in their growth, support, and long-term success makes a difference not just for teachers, but for students and families too.

Not all school test scores tell the same story.

Some schools are serving students with very different needs. Things like socioeconomic status and student mobility can change what those numbers really mean.

That’s why we look at “Similar Schools” to understand how a school is performing compared to others like it.

For example, Resurgence Hall Charter School is performing about 34 points higher than similar schools. When you look at their results in context, you see the impact of strong systems and support showing up for students.

Take a look at the post to see how it works: https://redefinedatlanta.org/student-achievement-at-similar-schools/

Strong schools do not exist in isolation. They are connected to the neighborhoods around them.

That is the focus of DC360, a collaborative effort to align education, housing, workforce, and community investment across the Douglass Cluster. As the work moves into its next phase, Action Teams are helping turn big ideas into clear, actionable plans, guided by community voice and strong partnerships.

We are grateful to the many partners, leaders, and community members who continue to show up and shape this work together. Learn more about what is happening and what comes next: https://redefinedatlanta.org/dc360-action-teams-refine-strategy/
