Sustainable Lakewood Reshaping Atlanta's underserved neighborhoods with meaningful work that impacts the people.

Sustainable Lakewood is dedicated to reshaping Atlanta's NPU-Y into a thriving community by fostering recycling, community service and outdoor activities. We began with a small group of neighbors in response to an ACoRA (Atlanta Coordinating Responsible Authority) grant for Lakewood Heights. After realizing that no investors were interested in developing the area, they took the initiative to make

changes on their own. The group initially focused on fulfilling basic needs such as beautification (previously working on cleanup projects around the neighborhood), adding sidewalks and improving safety. Almost a decade later, our work has expanded to establishing Neighborhood Planning Unit Y (NPU-Y) as an EcoDistrict through education, community redevelopment and environmental stewardship.
