At a time when voting rights protections are being weakened and communities are raising concerns about threats to Black voting power, showing up at the ballot box matters more than ever.

Runoff elections are often decided by a small number of votes. When turnout drops, our communities have less say in the decisions that affect our future.

Make your plan. Check your polling location. Remind your friends and family.

Then vote on June 16.

On May 28, the Georgia PSC approved a deal on fuel costs and storm recovery that will lower most customers’ bills starting June 1.

The savings: about $4 per month, or $50 per year, for a typical residential customer. The settlement also cuts Georgia Power’s storm cost recovery by nearly 60% and places new limits on natural gas hedging.

That is a step in the right direction. But the deal leaves open a significant question: data centers and large industrial customers may not be paying for all the costs they create. The PSC’s own staff found they drive up fuel costs for everyone else by 5 to 11% per month.

The commission opened a new investigation into that question. We’re watching it.

We broke it down in plain language - because your power bill deserves a clear explanation.

After a storm, the first priority is getting the power back on.
But later comes another question: who pays for the cleanup?
Right now, the Georgia Public Service Commission is reviewing a proposed deal about storm cleanup costs and fuel charges that could affect customer bills.

The proposal lowers part of what Georgia Power originally requested. That is progress. But Georgia families still deserve clear answers about who pays, how much, and whether large energy users like data centers are paying their fair share.

We broke it down in plain language because public utility decisions should be understandable to the public paying for them.
