Recently, KL Training Solutions/Daddy Taught Me That were honored to participate in the City of Asheville’s Gun Violence Awareness Proclamation alongside law enforcement agencies, community leaders, elected officials, and fellow nonprofit organizations.

At My Daddy Taught Me That, we believe violence prevention begins with opportunity, mentorship, education, and creating safe spaces where young people can thrive.

Through our youth programs and the work of our trained Community Health Workers, we are committed to helping reduce violence by addressing challenges before they become crises and by connecting individuals and families with the support they need.

Creating a safer community takes all of us working together, and we are grateful to stand alongside so many organizations committed to that mission.

Message From Our Founder

Yesterday, I was honored to receive the Business of the Year Award from the Asheville Chamber of Commerce.

Many people don’t think of a nonprofit as a business, but the reality is that it takes vision, leadership, strategy, and an incredible team to serve a community at a high level.

While I am grateful for this recognition, this award doesn’t belong to me alone.

It belongs to our staff who show up every day.
It belongs to our volunteers, donors, and community partners who believe in our mission.
Most importantly, it belongs to the children and families we have the privilege to serve.

I never imagined this would be the path God had for my life, but I am truly blessed to be in a position to make a difference in the community that helped raise me.

Thank you to everyone who has supported My Daddy Taught Me That and KL Training Solutions along this journey. We are just getting started. ❤️

While our youth are enjoying the start of summer, our team has been hard at work preparing for an incredible summer program. ☀️💯

This week has been filled with safety training, leadership development, team-building exercises, and planning sessions to make sure we’re ready to provide the best experience possible for the children we serve.

Great programs don’t happen by accident. They happen because dedicated people put in the work behind the scenes.

We’re excited, prepared, and ready for a summer filled with learning, growth, fun, and opportunity.

🎓❤️ A Moment We’ll Never Forget ❤️🎓

Last week, we had the honor of celebrating several of our amazing students as they graduated, including a special group from Asheville Middle School.

Watching our My Daddy Taught Me That, My Sistah Taught Me That, and KL Training Solutions youth walk across that stage was more than a graduation—it was a reminder of what is possible when young people are surrounded by support, encouragement, and opportunity.

We are incredibly proud of each student and all they have accomplished. This milestone is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to see what their future holds.

Congratulations, graduates! Keep dreaming, keep growing, and keep believing in yourselves. Your village is cheering you on every step of the way. 💯
