Meet Cindy!
Cindy is our Peer Support Coordinator and is available for drop-in support during our office hours M-F 10-2.
Cindy has worked in a variety of settings, working for Meals on Wheels and as a Chief of Public Safety. Cindy knows what it is like to face adversity and create a meaningful life through that. She has been participating in NAMI peer groups for 2.5 years, and she has been facilitating groups for about 2 years.She is also an artist and finds delight in watercolors. She leads an art group at nami on Thursdays 10-11am. She has 2 grandkids and loves spending quality time with them.

Hello Autumn and happy fall equinox!
We are beginning the process of turning inwards and reflecting on our work here at NAMI Western Carolina. Amidst this reflection, we are also continuing to develop community partnerships, grow our staff, and expand our reach. Peer support is at the heart of this work and we have increased our offerings in this past year and will continue to offer in-office support for peers and families 10-2 M-F.

With that, we want our offerings to be easier to access, so without further ado, here is our October monthly calendar. We will begin sharing and distributing a monthly calendar starting this upcoming month!

Our long time volunteer and former board president, Betsy White was awarded the NC Governors Volunteer Award and honored at the Buncombe County Commissioner’s meeting on June 16th 2026. Betsy dedicates time weekly to support NAMI Western Carolina and leads from her lived experience. She facilitates NAMI Family Support Groups and she is instrumental in fundraising for NAMI WNC. Betsy’s vision as president enabled NAMI WNC to make leaps and bounds to become what it is today.
