Black-owned businesses face barriers to capital at twice the rate of white-owned businesses, limiting their ability to grow, hire, and build lasting wealth in their communities.

Eagle Market Streets works to close that gap by providing matched savings programs that turn possibility into reality, along with funding and guidance to help entrepreneurs launch and expand their businesses. By supporting these ventures, we help ensure that local business owners have the tools, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive, and that the communities they serve can grow stronger, more resilient, and more equitable.

The streets here hold memory.

If you stand still long enough, you can almost hear it, business owners setting up for the day, neighbors stopping in to talk, music drifting through open doors.

The Block has always been a place of culture, creativity, and resilience.

Today, that legacy is not gone. It continues through the people who invest in it, build in it, and believe in it, carrying it forward in new ways.

We’re proud to spotlight our Community Benefit Partner, HERS LLC

Founded by Yvette Jives, HERS LLC is rooted in a powerful mission—ensuring that everyone has the knowledge, access, and support needed to take an active role in their healthcare journey. With a patient-centered approach, HERS bridges critical gaps through healthcare navigation, education, and advocacy, meeting individuals and families where they are and walking alongside them toward stability and wellness.

By addressing not just medical needs but the broader social factors that impact health, HERS LLC is helping transform lives and strengthen communities across our region.

We’re proud to share that HERS LLC was recently selected as a recipient of the Resilient Futures Co-Lab grant and will also be represented at the NC Community Health Workers Association summit—continuing to amplify the impact of community health workers across North Carolina.

One person. One family. One community at a time—this is what real change looks like.

Sometimes the difference between an idea and a business is not talent.

It is access.

Access to space.
Access to guidance.
Access to someone saying, “Yes, you can do this here.”

We have seen what happens when that access is in place.

Ideas stop staying ideas. They become income, stability, and something that can be built on and passed forward.

That is the work happening inside these walls. Want to find out how you can be a part of this work? Go to EagleMarketStreets.org today.

The Block has long been a center of Black business, culture, and community in Asheville.

That history continues to shape the work happening here today. At Eagle Market Streets, we are investing in revitalization that honors what has come before while creating space for a more inclusive future.

This work is grounded in culture, commerce, and community, and in the people who continue to carry that legacy forward.

Join us in supporting local progress.

There is a space in downtown Asheville designed with community in mind.

The Mayor Bellamy Community Room at Eagle Market Streets is a flexible gathering place where ideas, conversations, and collaboration can take shape.

Whether it is a workshop, community meeting, training session, or creative gathering, the room can be arranged to fit the way people work and connect. With seating for up to 81 and access to audio visual equipment, it supports both small discussions and larger group events.

What happens in this space is shaped by the people who use it. We have seen planning sessions grow into partnerships, presentations spark new ideas, and conversations lead to meaningful action.
