Asheville Puppetry Alliance

Chris Eizember, aka Bam, came to Street Creature 7 years ago after one of us discovered him in his giant bamboo skeleton costume at the Asheville Drum Circle. An engineer by training, his creativity blossomed after Covid put him into retirement, and it’s been puppets ever since!

Thanks to everybody who’s donated to our fundraiser! 🙏💜 We’re $1,450 away from our goal, with 8 days to go:

The faces of Street Creature Puppet Collective, continued! 🐍 Michael Bunch, aka Mēka, joined us in 2018. As a natural builder, tinkerer, problem solver, and collaborator, it was a perfect fit. He’s keen at using found materials to make whatever he envisions. “What I love about the puppetry arts is the full spectrum of community and multidisciplinary opportunities it provides me as a creative,” he says.

Our is extended for another 11 days and we're still $1,652 away from our goal, so please donate if you can! https://www.facebook.com/donate/778066251957137/1166410228965532

Another sweet face from behind the scenes of Street Creature Street Creature Puppet Collective! Thanks for all the 🐈‍⬛ wrangling Melanie!

The faces of Street Creature Puppet Collective, continued! Civil engineer, 10th Asheville Mardi Gras queen and keeper of 15 backyard chickens, Melanie Brethauer joined Street Creature in 2017 and serves as vice president.

In 2022, the Street Creature critters transformed her West Asheville home into a pollinator-themed house float entry for Asheville Mardi Gras’ “Yardi Gras" event during the pandemic, in which participants decorated their homes in lieu of a traditional parade. Rain, snow, pandemic … nothing can stop the Street Creatures!
