🎹 Sunday Watch: Klaus Schulze performs live in 1997 with Moog instruments!

In honor of what would have been Klaus Schulze's 79th birthday this past Tuesday, we've selected this wonderful video of a live performance in 1977.

In it, Klaus masterfully arranges an otherworldly arrangement of synthesizers, including a Minimoog, Micromoog, and Polymoog!

Meet Terence van Arkel, Treasurer for the Bob Moog Foundation Board of Directors! 🎩

Appointed to the Treasurer role with the Bob Moog Foundation in April 2022, Terence has spent more than 30 years in leadership roles with HCA Healthcare. Throughout his career, he has led teams in a variety of financial and operational roles.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Stetson University in Florida and his MBA in Healthcare Administration from Western Governors University.

He is also a Certified Public Accountant who enjoys playing the guitar and surfing!

🎛 Come see a vintage, historically significant Moog IIIc at the Moogseum!

Built by R.A. Moog Co. in 1968, this amazing synthesizer was originally purchased by the recently passed Patrick Gleeson after being inspired by the Wendy Carlos album "Switched-On Bach" (1968).

After using it on countless recordings at his landmark music studio Different Fur Studios, he sold it to Don Preston of Frank Zappa's Mothers of Invention. Don played this modular on several live performances and studio projects, including the soundtrack to "Apocalypse Now" (1979).

By 1981, the unit was sold to Walter Holland. The Bob Moog Foundation acquired it from Walter in recent years to be displayed at the Moogseum in Asheville, NC, where you can come and see it for yourself while learning all about it on interactive screens.

Remembering Klaus Schulze (8/4/1947 - 4/26/2022) on his birthday! 🎂

Klaus Schulze was a pioneering electronic musician and composer. He was a member of the bands TANGERINE DREAM, Ash Ra Tempel, and the Cosmic Jokers before launching a solo career consisting of more than 60 albums released across six decades!

The Bob Moog Foundation acknowledges the genius of a remarkable synth legend on what would have been his 79th birthday.

The Bob Moog Foundation Celebrates 20 Years This Month! 🎉

On August 21st, the Bob Moog Foundation will complete its 20th year of officially carrying forward Bob Moog's legacy of scientific innovation.

We're celebrating all year here at the BMF headquarters and at the Moogseum with celebratory remembrance and optimism. The 2020s brought challenging moments for everybody, but we met those challenges with the generous support of our Members and Donors.

Indeed, your support has exceeded them, enabling the Bob Moog Foundation Archives to acquire exciting, legendary artifacts, including Bob's first electronic keyboard instrument, the Rensitron; Gary Wright's Moog Liberation keytar; and an R.A. Moog Co. Model 351 theremin from 1954. We brought Dr. Bob's SoundSchool to Grand Turk to inspire the next generation of Bahamian innovators. We're starting to see an uptick in business at the Moogseum during an ongoing rebuild of business after Hurricane Helene. And that was all 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧 𝙖𝙡𝙤𝙣𝙚!

Sunday Listen: "Inner Visions" by Stevie Wonder!

Tomorrow, August 3rd, marks the 53rd anniversary of Stevie Wonder's seminal classic: "Inner Visions." Released on this day in 1973, the album features iconic tracks such as "Living for the City" and "Higher Ground." A link to the former of these two tracks is in the comments!

The album included experimentation with the legendary T.O.N.T.O. (The Original New Timbral Orchestra) synthesizer system developed by Malcolm Cecil and Robert Margouleff.

Happy 73rd birthday to GEDDY LEE! 🤩

Arriving on Earth on this day in 1953, superstar bassist, vocalist, and synthesizer hero Geddy Lee of RUSH turns 73.

Born Gary Lee Weinrib, the multi-instrumentalist joined his guitarist friend Alex Lifeson's rock band as a teenager, and five years later, their eponymous 1973 album "RUSH" was released. Five decades and dozens of studio albums later, Geddy's back onstage for the Rush 50-Something Tour, proving that he can truly make "Time Stand Still."

A friend and supporter of the Bob Moog Foundation, Geddy is the only individual for whom a special-edition Moog Music instrument has been created. We offered a Geddy Lee Minimoog Model D as a prize for one of our synthesizer raffles in spring, 2025. Geddy additionally signed a vintage Minimoog for a 2023 raffle.

Electronic Music Pioneer and Master Synthesist Patrick Gleeson Dies at 91. 💙

Patrick was a vastly accomplished musician, synthesist, producer, and film and TV composer who was best known as the co-owner of Different Fur Studios, and his work with Herbie Hancock. However, his work stretched way beyond those even those extraordinary accomplishments. Read more in the link in the comments.

Major donation from our friends at inMusic Brands (parent company of Moog Music) to the Bob Moog Foundation Archives! 🤯

We're excited to announce a very special donation from inMusic: a treasure trove of over 4,000 items, including Bob Moog's office effects from his final years at Moog Music.

This astounding collection includes vintage Moog prototype synthesizers and parts, other vintage electronic instruments, hundreds of original schematics, original art screens, Bob Moog's personal schematic notebooks, rare catalogs and service guides, and priceless archival-quality correspondence between Bob and countless industry connections spanning decades.
