For more than 20 years, Angelique Herron of Angelique Tassistro Ceramics has created vibrant ceramic pieces designed to bring joy to everyday life. She creates bold statement pieces and daily dinnerware to turn ordinary moments into celebrations.

After Hurricane Helene reshaped the Asheville arts landscape, Angelique had to rethink how her business operates. Through Mountain BizWorks’ Craft Your Commerce “Crafting Resilience” Cohort, Angelique found support, strategy, and connection during a challenging season of rebuilding.

“Moving forward alongside a cohort of peers made the rebuilding process feel less like an isolated struggle and more like a shared path toward resilience.”
Now creating out of Aura Arts on Depot Street, Angelique continues to fill homes with color, creativity, and handmade joy.

What does it look like to build something where you’re from and for it to last? For brothers Charlie and Hunter Munday, it meant choosing to stay in Lenoir, NC, a place shaped by the rise and fall of the furniture industry and seeing opportunity where others saw an ending.

Today, Carolina Leg Co is crafting high-quality furniture components using locally sourced materials, carrying forward a legacy while building something new.
