If you’ve ever driven by and wondered how you can get involved, it’s easy!

You can add shelf stable, unexpired food items & hygiene items to the pantry anytime! Even if you just put one extra can of beans in there, that’s a win!

Did you know that Thursday, October 8, 2026 is national DAF Day? It’s a collective day of giving where people across the country activate their charitable dollars to create immediate change! Here in Western North Carolina, we are using this movement to strengthen our local food systems.

When you give, your DAF funds will be invested directly in local farms, food security initiatives, and community food hubs. Your DAF contribution allows us to plan ahead, scale our food distribution networks, and ensure fresh, healthy food is accessible to everyone in WNC!

Last week kicked off the recipe kit collaboration coordinated by the Macon County Food Council. Macon County Public Library is creating the recipes and cooking videos, the produce is purchased through Franklin Farm Hub, and then distributed alongside the MANNA distribution at Bethel UMC Church. Thanks to Resourceful Communities for funding this pilot! Folks were so excited about fried green tomatoes and looking forward to what’s next!

A big thank you to Keith Griffin from Aramark and Resourceful Communities for hosting an informative session on collegiate contracting with Aramark as a food hub. Universities have a nearly unanimous commitment to purchasing local, with many contracts naming 20% of procurement! WNC Food Coalition is proud to be working with local hubs under contract and coordinating efforts through the Food Hub Collaborative to increase hubs’ opportunities for contracting. We covered group GAP solutions, importance of building Aramark and college staff relationships simultaneously, and finding the right contact at Aramark (hint: it’s Keith!)
