This scholarship serves as a perfect tribute to Hayes’ memory and legacy. He was passionate about dance and dedicated to teaching it. If you know a dancer preparing for college, encourage them to apply!
For 22 years I’ve had the honor of reading and reviewing applications for the S. Hayes Robinson Memorial Dance Scholarship - it always brings me great joy to read about how dance impacts someone’s life. I also love reading about applicants future plans, dreams, aspirations, and how dance will likely be incorporated. I have recently completed the annual ritual of review and rating.
I started the scholarship with the The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina on August 5, 2004. August 5 is the day Hayes was born.
The fund lives upon its earnings. It is a perpetual scholarship fund, meaning that it should live on for a long, long time. Various fundraisers and gifts over the years have added to the principal, which in turn allow for increased awards. Many thanks to those who have contributed!!!
I am so very thankful for the guidance and management from the The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina . They make application process and review very streamlined.
This seems a perfect way to honor Hayes’ memory and legacy. He loved dance and loved teaching dance. If you know a dancer preparing for college, have them apply!
Sincerely-
Timothy Roth
