Meet our soloist and Artistic Director, Leo Sushansky, acclaimed for his “gorgeous tone, compelling musical personality, [and] passionate intensity” by The Washington Post and hailed as “astonishing” by The New York Times. A violinist of remarkable virtuosity and expressive depth, Sushansky made his recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 2005 with pianist Edward Newman and has since appeared internationally as a soloist, recitalist, and chamber musician in many of the world’s leading concert halls.
His distinguished career has included performances with numerous orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Fairfax Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, Berlin Chamber Orchestra, Romanian State Philharmonic, Anima Musicae Chamber Orchestra, Aspen Chamber Orchestra, Maryland Symphony Orchestra, and the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, among many others. He has also been featured on numerous radio and television broadcasts, earning recognition for performances marked by technical brilliance, emotional power, and refined artistry.
