USO The USO is for the people who serve. Strengthening the well-being of the people serving in America’s military and their families.

The USO has kept our military men and women connected to family, home and country throughout their time of service – no matter where, how long, or under what conditions they serve. It was founded in preparation for World War II by national leaders who understood that maintaining high morale in a fighting force is vital to a nation’s military success. Over time, the USO has become the vital bridge

between Americans and their military service members. The USO is a family of volunteers, sustained by the charitable contributions of millions of generous Americans. We are united in our commitment to support America’s service members by keeping them connected to the people, places and things they love. We do this through countless acts of caring, comfort, connection and support. Our work is America’s most powerful expression of gratitude to the men and women who secure our nation’s freedoms.

For 85 of America's 250 years, the USO has been there.

From World War II-era USO clubs to today’s presence on military installations, aboard ships, in airports, in military communities and in some of the world’s most remote locations, USO history is American history.

As our nation approaches its 250th birthday, we’re honoring the people at the heart of that story: the people who serve.

Right now, service members are standing watch around the world, far from home and carrying the demands of military life every day.

Send a message of support at uso.org/A250 and remind them the nation they serve stands with them, too.

This Military Appreciation Month, Americans across the country took a moment to say thank you. And from thousands of miles away, a service member stationed overseas wanted to say it back.

To every person who sent a message this month: it reached someone who needed it. It reminded a service member that the people back home are thinking of them, even when the days are long and the distance feels great.

Keep sending your messages of gratitude at uso.org/messages. It takes just a moment, but for someone stationed far from home, it can mean everything.

The USO is incredibly proud to have delivered messages of support to our service members this Military Appreciation Month, reaching them in places all around the world, from the Middle East to Hawaii and even an aircraft carrier based near Japan.

Each one of those messages was received. Each one was felt. Each one made a true difference to someone serving far from home.

Thank you to every single person who took the time to reach someone serving on the front lines.

Support doesn’t end in May. You can continue to send messages year-round at uso.org/messages.

Home can feel far away during deployment, but now, service members in Kenya have a place built just for them.

With the first staffed USO Center in Kenya, the USO is bringing comfort, community and support to troops serving in challenging conditions. From volunteer-led programs to community events that helps make deployment feel a little less isolating, this space reminds service members that they are never alone, no matter how far from home they serve.

The USO helps service members build connections with fellow service members. During Military Appreciation Month, we asked the USO Service Members of the Year to share how they build these connections. The celebration of our USO Service Members of the Year is supported by Comcast.

This Military Appreciation Month, join former NFL player Tony Richardson and the USO in thanking active-duty service members wherever they are serving.

Whether they’re stationed close to home or deployed overseas, your words of encouragement can help remind them that we stand behind them.

Send your message at uso.org/messages.

Congratulations to longtime USO supporter and USO Entertainment Tour participant Darius Rucker who received the Veterans Voice Award at Monday’s American Music Awards.

From stateside visits to overseas USO tours in South Korea and the United Arab Emirates, Darius—along with his Hootie & the Blowfish bandmates—has remained a steadfast supporter of service members and military families since the late 1990s.

A well-deserved honor and recognition.

Service members deployed to the Middle East are facing constant challenges. Not only are they in a hot and harsh climate, but they must also navigate ongoing regional tensions and high-pressure missions. They must be always ready to adapt and stay ready for whatever comes next – and to do that, they need to be able to reset and recharge.

That’s where the USO comes in. Troops deployed to Jordan recently received a USO delivery packed with supplies that are difficult to come by in such a remote location. This can include everything from field provisions, to familiar snacks from home, to morale-boosting activities.

But these USO deliveries are more than a box of essentials that provide a break from the daily grind – it’s a reminder that we always have their back, even in the most extreme of conditions.
