📰 The Shelby Report- Inserra Opens ShopRite In Former Acme; Remodel On Tap

Inserra Supermarkets Inc. opened the ShopRite of Edgewater Commons on Sept. 19, converting a former Acme space at 481 River Road in Edgewater, New Jersey, into its 24th ShopRite and committing to a two-year remodel that will unfold while the 64,000-square-foot store serves customers in the Bergen County riverfront community.

“We are proud to open our doors to the Edgewater community while renovations continue, ensuring local shoppers continue to have access to a full-service supermarket,” said Lawrence R. Inserra Jr., chairman and CEO of Inserra Supermarkets. “We know this is just the beginning of an exciting transformation. Over the next two years, we will invest in the store to expand its offerings and create a shopping experience that meets the needs of the Edgewater community.”

Inserra Supermarkets opened the ShopRite of Edgewater Commons in a former Acme, with a two-year remodel planned while the NJ store serves customers.

NGA President & CEO Greg Ferrara spoke with Fox Business about the importance of independent grocers being able to compete on a level playing field.

Here are some key takeaways from this important interview:

✔️ If we don't have free markets, we don't have open markets.

✔️ Independent grocers often struggle to obtain the same products, promotions, and purchasing terms available to the largest national retailers in the country - this hurts customers who want these products but are unable to buy them.

✔️ Independent grocers are not seeking favoritism - just a level playing field and a chance to compete. This benefits not just independent grocers but the communities they serve.

Greg Ferrara closed out the interview with optimism, stating, "I think we're gonna see a future that corrects course because ultimately that's what consumers want," he said. "We want to make sure that we're taking the steps today to ensure that these businesses will be successful tomorrow."
