We are thrilled to welcome Amanda Morales, LCSW-C, to the Coast Guard Mutual Assistance team!

Amanda brings a remarkable combination of lived military experience and professional expertise to this role.

A U.S. Coast Guard veteran and licensed clinical social worker, she previously served on CGMA's Board of Directors and was the first-ever recipient of CGMA's Ambassador of the Year award — an honor she earned through her dedicated advocacy for Coast Guard families during the 2018–2019 Government Shutdown.

Her professional background spans clinical assessment, trauma-informed care, care coordination, and program leadership, with a sustained focus on addressing systemic barriers to mental health and social services.

She has contributed to policy development, program implementation, and community partnership-building across her career — always with the goal of strengthening support for service members and their families.

Amanda's ability to navigate complex healthcare and benefits systems, translate clinical information into actionable solutions, and build meaningful partnerships makes her an extraordinary asset to CGMA's mission.

We are proud to welcome her home.

1,500 miles down. Maine ahead.

At 70 years old, Vice Admiral Manson Brown, U.S. Coast Guard (Ret.), is riding from Key West to Bar Harbor to support Coast Guard families through CGMA.

He’s battled heavy rain, bitter cold, strong winds, and long solo miles. Now, he begins the final and most demanding phase of the journey.

One man.
One mission.
Helping our own.

CGMA provided more than $12.1 million in support to over 4,000 Coast Guard families last year alone.

Every mile matters. Show your support: https://bit.ly/Riding-4-CGMA.

Today, we honor the fallen and reaffirm our promise to never forget.

Memorial Day is a moment for us to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and unwavering dedication of those who gave everything in service to our nation. It is also a reminder of our continued commitment to the families who carry their legacy forward.

Recently, CGMA was honored to facilitate travel for the family and friends of a fallen Coast Guard member so they could accompany their loved one to his final resting place.

For 100 years, CGMA has stood side by side with our service members and their families. In moments like these, we are reminded that service extends beyond duty, it is about standing together through every chapter of life and loss.

So, today, we honor the fallen, support the living, and reaffirm our promise to never forget.

The CGMA Open has never been just about golf.

It’s about reconnecting with Coast Guard friends after years apart. The conversations between rounds. The moments that remind us what the Coast Guard community truly feels like.

“I needed this. I wasn’t going to miss the tournament for anything,” shared Senior Chief Petty Officer Jeffrey Smith, USCG (Ret.), Coast Guard civilian employee, and CGMA golfer.

This year, the CGMA Open heads to Reunion Resort & Golf Club in Kissimmee, Florida — bringing the same camaraderie and purpose to a new destination featuring championship golf, resort amenities, an on-site water park, and easy access to Disney theme parks.

Come for the golf. Stay for the people.

That’s the power of us. ⛳

CGMA COO Jason Wong and Board member Mrs. Abbigail McCracken had the privilege of visiting U.S. Coast Guard Base Kodiak and U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak.

They connected with the dedicated men and women who serve our communities every day. They met with command leadership, held an all-hands gathering, shared a pizza lunch with the crew, toured the base and housing units, and visited with Kodiak Fire Department personnel. During the recent shutdown, these firefighters faced significant challenges, and CGMA was honored to support these service members with grants that helped them remain mission-ready and continue their essential work.

Visits like these give us the opportunity to better understand the unique needs across the installation and continue conversations about how we can deliver meaningful support to child development centers, industrial shops, vessel traffic centers, and other mission-critical programs throughout the country. In many cases, these programs provide essential services that help employees get to work and sustain daily operations, and without them, the impact on mission readiness and community support could be significant.
