A growing number of religious groups, universities and public institutions in Busan are joining a "fair lodging" campaign ahead of BTS’ upcoming concerts in the city, offering free or low-cost accommodation to fans amid soaring hotel prices.⁠

According to the Busan Metropolitan Government, local temples, churches, universities and public organizations began participating in the campaign following reports of accommodation prices sharply increasing around the concert period.⁠

Among the participating organizations are Beomeosa, Hongbeopsa and Seonamsa, which will provide temple stay programs free of charge.⁠

Several churches — including Suyeongro Church, Bujeon Church, Podowon Church, Gimhae Jungang Church, Segyero Church, Moriah Church and Geoje Church — have also joined the effort, alongside the Catholic retreat center Pureun Namu Education Center.⁠

"무려 1500명의 노인을..." 폐지 리어카를 끌던 어르신들이 전동 카트를 모는 택배 기사로 변신했다. CJ대한통운의 실버택배는 큰 택배 차량이 아파트 단지 거점에 물건을 내려놓으면 어르신들이 전동 카트로 각 가정에 배달하는 모델로 현재까지 1,500명 이상의 노인 일자리를 창출했다.

*참여 어르신들은 주로 본인의 거주지 근처 아파트 단지에서 하루 3~4시간 정도 오전 위주로 근무하며 주 5일에서 6일간 활동한다. 수입은 배송 물량과 지역에 따라 차이가 있지만 월평균 50만 원에서 70만 원 수준으로 기존 폐지 수집 시보다 약 3~4배가량 안정적인 소득을 얻고 있다.

이 사업은 노인들의 신체적 부담을 줄이기 위해 친환경 전동 카트를 도입하고 정부와 지자체가 협력하여 운영비와 일자리 지원금을 관리하는 구조다.

*경제적 자립뿐만 아니라 어르신들의 사회적 고립을 예방하는 효과를 인정받아 UN 우수사례로 등재되고 포춘지의 혁신기업 명단에 오르기도 했다.

단순히 물건을 전달하는 것을 넘어 노인 빈곤 문제의 실질적인 대안으로 자리 잡은 이 모델은 기업과 지역 사회가 상생하는 대표적인 성공 사례로 평가받는다.

A Korean mathematician has won international recognition for solving a geometry puzzle that had resisted proof for nearly six decades.

US magazine Scientific American named the research by Baek Jin-eon among its top 10 mathematical breakthroughs of 2025, the mathematics community said on Sunday.

Baek, 31, is a research fellow at the June E Huh Center for Mathematical Challenges at the Korea Institute for Advanced Study.

The so-called moving sofa problem asks how large a rigid shape can be while still being able to pass around a right-angled corner in an L-shaped corridor of a constant width of 1 meter.
