Welcome to our newest NSAA Board Directors! 👏🏻

At the NSAA Annual Meeting on Sunday, September 27, Lauren Berry and Scott Broadwell were voted in to fill two open Board positions.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who expressed interest in serving our community! We were thrilled to receive applications from so many highly qualified candidates.

Please join us in welcoming Lauren and Scott to the NSAA Board!

Lauren Berry is a longtime Alaskan and parent of three who loves skiing, biking, hiking, climbing, fishing, and being part of Anchorage’s vibrant outdoor community. She brings experience in environmental policy, organizational strategy, partnerships, and community engagement, and is excited to help strengthen NSAA’s year-round presence in our community.

Scott Broadwell has called Anchorage home since 2006 and has spent nearly two decades working to improve his skiing, fitness, and technique. An attorney specializing in environmental matters and civil litigation, Scott is an avid skier, biker, and hiker who is excited to give back to the local ski community and help NSAA grow and thrive.

We are delighted to honor Karen Compton and Vivienne Murray as lifetime NSAA members. Karen and Vivienne revitalized NSAA’s ski jumping and Nordic combined program in the early 2010s. When they took leadership, the program faced a loss of direction, aging facilities, and just three active jumpers. Through their visionary leadership and dedicated efforts, they expanded participation to over 60 athletes, secured funding for a summer ski jumping surface, and spearheaded the acquisition of brand-new facility buildings. Under their management, the program has proudly produced both junior and senior National Champions. Without their commitment and vision, the program would not be where it is today. Thank you, Karen and Vivienne, for your dedication and years of service!

Anchorage’s most popular youth learn-to-ski program has a history of selling out within minutes, especially at our most popular sites and time slots. If you have a skier ages 6–14 who wants to join us this season, be ready to register! Meet the Nordic Skiing Association of Anchorage (NSAA). For more than 60 years, NSAA has helped build a stronger, healthier, more connected community by bringing people together to experience winter on Nordic skis.

With an incredible network of trails, a passionate skiing community, and a shared love of winter, Anchorage has become one of the premier Nordic skiing destinations in the country.

The trails may still be bare, but we're already watching the forecast and dreaming of that first lasting snowfall. This winter, join us.
