Comments on the Roadless Rule, which provides safeguards for 99% of the Chugach National Forest, are due Friday! https://www.tu.org/conservation/action-center/?vvsrc=%2fcampaigns%2f129771%2frespond
Join us in standing up for some of the most productive fish and wildlife habitat on Alaska's national forests. Alaska’s roadless areas make up 1/3 of the roadless areas in the country!
🗣️ We have 11 more days to speak up. Tell the USDA to keep the Roadless Rule and safeguard our valuable public lands.

The USDA is moving to rescind the Roadless Rule on 14.6 million acres of the Tongass and Chugach National Forests. Roadless areas provide some of Alaska’s best hunting and fishing opportunities and support sustainable economic development through our powerhouse fishing and outdoor recreation sectors. These safeguards benefit salmon, trout, deer, bears, and other wildlife that rely on high quality and unfragmented habitat.
The Roadless Rule balances conservation with other forest uses by preventing new road construction and commercial logging operations on roadless areas. All other activities--including fishing, hunting, OHV use, mining, energy development, and projects that remove timber to improve forest health conditions--are permitted by the Roadless Rule.
