The 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle The 100 Club of the Tx Panhandle is a Non-Profit standing behind men and women behind the badge.

We are totally supported by your membership donations and the efforts of area fundraisers. We are honored every time a group designates us to receive funds they raise at charity events. In addition, the 100 Club Board members are available to speak at area clubs and organizations to help raise awareness on our organization.

IMPORTANT…while this is not a 100 Club project, it is going to be an incredible remembrance ceremony for the first responders who gave the ultimate sacrifice while serving and protecting us and our communities. Please share this information with the wonderful families whose loved ones will be honored on October 28 at 4pm and forever remembered by this memorial thanks to the dedicated leadership team at Friends of AJ Swope. This is going to be so special for so many for years to come! A job well done to all who made it possible!

Welcome to the latest members of the Amarillo Fire Department! Thank you so much for choosing to protect and serve!

Please welcome our latest AFD members:
Christian McGuire, Dax Morris, Kyle Barnes, Caleb Madden, Tyler Brooks, Avrian Bracamontes, Hunter Yandell, Pierce Hill, Blake Nurek, and Evan Hartwell!

They are all certified already and started on Thursday, October 15 as a part of our Fast Track program.

Their first day included City onboarding through HR and the Chief's “Welcome to the AFD Family” presentation, where he talked about expectations, our culture, and what it means to serve as an AFD firefighter.

Following administrative orientation, they’ll head to the training facility for the remainder of their six-week Fast Track program, including AFD operations, EMS protocols, and skills and written testing before joining their crews. Our newest members are anticipated to join their crews on November 26th!

Proud of the men and women who answered the call and fought these fires for days…also proud of all the people who gave to help us help them keep fighting by providing funds for tires, fuel, repairs, gear, etc. While a devastating loss for so many, it was a true testament to the Panhandle spirit and beyond! ❤️💙

In late February 2024 a fire started in the Texas Panhandle and did not stop until it had burned more than a million acres. 🔥 The Smokehouse Creek Fire is the largest wildfire in the recorded history of this state, larger than all of Rhode Island, and most of the people who fought it were volunteers.

That is the part that never makes the national coverage. Out there the fire department is a metal building with two trucks and a roster of people who farm, weld, teach school and drive a route for a living. The tones drop and they leave whatever they were doing. They ran brush rigs on almost no sleep for days while the wind kept shifting, and plenty of them were holding ground within sight of their own houses.

Ranchers lost thousands of head of cattle and the fences they had spent their whole lives building. Then the convoys started rolling in from all over the country, hay and fencing supplies and fuel, sent by people who had never been to the Panhandle and never will. 🤠 That is the other thing that part of Texas is known for.

Well done, Randall County Sheriff's Office!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
October 6, 2026

On October 2, 2026, Randall County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies were dispatched to a residence on Gettysburg Road in reference to reports of shots being fired. While responding, deputies were notified that the victim had moved to a safe location. Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect, Zane Klotz, and placed him under arrest.

Deputies then searched the residence for the fi***rm and to photograph the scene. During the search, deputies located the fi***rm believed to have been used during the shooting, along with shell casings consistent with the reported incident.

Deputies also located additional fi***rms, an outer carrier body armor, drug paraphernalia, and controlled substances.

Klotz was arrested and booked into the Randall County Jail on three counts of Aggravated Assault, a second-degree felony; Deadly Conduct, a third-degree felony; and Manufacture or Delivery of a Substance in Penalty Group 2 or 2-A, a first-degree felony.
