PILC Our Mission: To encourage and support people with disabilities to exercise their choice toward independence. Call us at 806-374-1400.

PILC is a Center for Independent Living, one of 27 centers in Texas and 500 across the nation. Centers for Independent Living promote the Independent Living philosophy, which states that people with disabilities have the right to make their own choices for their lives and to live independently in their community, not in an institution. We help people with disabilities achieve their independent living goals through peer support, independent living skills development and education.

🎉🤍 3rd Annual White Cane Safety Day – A HUGE SUCCESS! 🤍🎉

What an incredible evening! Panhandle Independent Living Center (PILC), in partnership with Region 16 Education Service Center, proudly hosted our 3rd Annual White Cane Safety Day tonight, October 15, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas!

We are thrilled to share that this year's event was a HUGE SUCCESS! 🎉

This special evening brought our community together to celebrate independence, inclusion, accessibility, and awareness for individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

💙 A heartfelt THANK YOU to Region 16, our amazing vendors, community partners, volunteers, and everyone who attended! Your participation, dedication, and support helped make this event such a wonderful success.

Events like these remind us of the importance of working together to promote awareness, break down barriers, and empower individuals with disabilities to live independently.

🤍 Together, we are making a difference—one step at a time!

We look forward to continuing this wonderful tradition and making next year's White Cane Safety Day even bigger and better!
