Today, something SO beautiful happened at Acts Community. 🥹

25 people showed up for our very first sign language class. TWENTY-FIVE people stepped out of their comfort zone so that ONE person could feel a little more welcomed, a little more included, and a little more connected.

We practiced conversational phrases today, but what we learned was so much more. We learned that friendship isn’t just about making room for someone in your world. It’s about making the effort to understand theirs.

So, from ALL of us at the Acts Community Senior Center: You matter. You are worthy of love, belonging, and the effort it takes to help you feel included and understood. 🤟

Big news for Amarillo after-school programming! Music lessons are officially underway. We’re currently training 16 paid high school interns who will become our teachers and tutors when we open the brand new Acts Community Music Academy after school program in January!

Intern tryouts for the Acts Community Music Academy are officially in the books! We hired 16 high school students to be music teachers and tutors in our new after-school program! What a fun couple of days.

A packed day at the Acts Community Senior Center got even better when the crew from Snack Pak 4 Kids of Texas showed up with honeydew melons that were donated by The Market on Tierra Blanca. Our community is amazing. Thank you Dyron, Becky and Glenn!
