Allentown Rescue Mission

Allentown Rescue Mission The goal of the Allentown Rescue Mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and restore men experiencing homelessness.

The Allentown Rescue Mission is more than a shelter. We offer three distinct programs to address the needs of all the men who seek our help: the Emergency Shelter, Transformation Program, and the Clean Team Workforce. Additionally, we've partnered with DeSales University to provide health services to the men in our care. Our Emergency Shelter provides safe housing, nutritionally balanced meals, clothing and connects the men to various social service and support organizations. We offer our services to all men over 18 regardless of race, color, creed, political affiliation, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation. The Transformation Program is a residential rehabilitation program that tackles the root causes of homelessness. Through individual assessment and one-on-one guidance, we help the men in our care make and execute plans to improve their lives. This nondenominational, faith-based program is designed to teach homeless men life skills and job literacy skills. The Clean Team Workforce is a development program offered to graduates of the Transformation Program. In the Clean Team Workforce, the men gain work experience, connect with outside employers, and accumulate enough savings to fund their transition back into the community. Thus completing the transformation from homelessness to employed, independent living. In 2007, the Allentown Rescue Mission partnered with DeSales University to create the DeSales Free Medical Clinic. The clinic is staffed by volunteer doctors, physician assistants, DeSales faculty, and physician assistants students. The clinic is free of charge for all the guests of the Allentown Rescue Mission.

Meet Connor, a recent guest of our Emergency Shelter.

After earning a degree in Business Management, he found himself in Easton working for Walmart. There, he loaded and unloaded trucks, stocked merchandise, and maintained inventory.

Tragically, a knee injury made physical work increasingly difficult, and Connor eventually lost his job. He sought help from the Rescue Mission after his landlord asked him to leave his home, and homelessness became a new reality for him.

When Connor arrived at the Emergency Shelter, he was grateful to have a bed, clothes, and balanced meals.

Now, Connor is looking to renew his faith and join the Transformation Program.

Good luck, Connor!

Join us in congratulating our Transformation Program graduates- Daniel S, Zachary, Daniel D, and Sean!

These men did not simply complete a program- they're putting what they've learned into practice and are taking meaningful steps toward self-sufficiency.

The Transformation Program is 120 class hours; half spent on biblical education and the other half on life skills and workforce development.

These men began in the Emergency Shelter with hope for something different. Today, they’re graduating with the tools, confidence, and determination to change the trajectory of their lives.

Congratulations, we are proud of each one of you!

Jay, Bill, Tim, and Brian were hard at work behind the scenes of a recent Polo Match in Easton! The team helped to keep the event running smoothly from start to finish!

The team set up tables and chairs, placed trash and recycling receptacles, and kept the grounds clean all day.

Their hard work didn't go unnoticed - the event coordinator was extremely pleased with the Clean Team's efforts!

Looking for an extra set of hardworking hands?
The Clean Team can do general labor, junk removal, landscaping, and more.

Join us in congratulating our September Clean Team Workforce Employee of the Month, Kariem!

Kariem has faced many challenges in life, some of those starting at a young age. As a result, he turned to the streets to find the comforts that he didn't feel at home. But this lifestyle took a toll on Kariem, and he decided to make a change.

Kariem found the Allentown Rescue Mission and stayed in the Emergency Shelter, where he learned about the program that leads to self-sufficiency. Kariem was excited to join the Transformation Program where he developed life skills and was exposed to the Gospel message.

After graduation, Kariem joined the Clean Team Workforce and proved to be dedicated and dependable while working at a local auto salvage yard.

Kariem was hired directly by the auto salvage company and is saving money for an apartment.

Meet Daniel, a resident of our Transformation Program.

Daniel came to the Emergency Shelter after a difficult season of loss and uncertainty. The staff at the Allentown Rescue Mission showed him compassion when he needed it most.

Daniel first joined the Transformation Program out of necessity. Over time, he has found a brotherhood- a place where men with different backgrounds can grow together.
His new rhythm of daily responsibilities is giving him a sense of importance. Daniel is also enjoying chapel services where he can explore the truth of Scripture.

Daniel has plans to work for the Clean Team where he will continue his journey of transformation.
