🍂 It’s hard to believe we’re heading into the final weekend of September! Does anyone else feel like this month and, honestly, this year have just flown by?!

For children navigating uncertainty, time matters. A consistent, caring CASA volunteer can help ensure they feel seen, heard, and supported through every season of their journey.

As September draws to a close, we’re especially grateful for the volunteers who continue showing up and making each moment count. 💙

🌟 September Volunteer Spotlight 🌟

What has David Silliman learned from being a CASA volunteer, and what has the experience meant to him personally?

David has learned that one of the most important things a CASA volunteer can offer is simply their presence. For a child who may not have had a consistently committed adult in their life, continuing to show up can make a meaningful difference.

Some of David’s most treasured moments have included seeing the first smile from a child he served and then watching many more smiles follow! He also received a homemade card expressing how thankful the child was to have him in their life and saying that they loved him.

David did not become a CASA volunteer expecting recognition or gratitude, but moments like these have been deeply meaningful and reaffirming. They remind him that his consistent presence truly matters. ❤️💙

Our Constitution was signed on September 17, 1787. It begins with three powerful words: “We the People.”

That promise belongs to everyone, including children whose voices too often go unheard.

At Lehigh County CASA, our volunteers help ensure that children experiencing abuse or neglect are seen, heard, and supported throughout their journey in the court system.

Because justice means standing up for those who need someone in their corner and every child deserves an advocate fighting for their best interests.

Every child deserves a voice.

What was it like for David Silliman to receive his first CASA case?

David admits that he felt nervous when he first received the child’s case files. He wanted to be certain he could do his very best for the child he had been entrusted to serve.

That was when David discovered what he describes as “an amazing support system.” Erin, CASA Program Director, and Amy, CASA Assistant Director, were always willing to help with questions and concerns. David also found encouragement from fellow CASA volunteers who shared their experiences and offered guidance.

CASA volunteers never have to navigate their cases alone. Our staff and volunteer community are here to provide support every step of the way. ❤️💙 Check back next week to read about what this volunteer experience has meant to David!

Today, we honor the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders whose courage inspired a nation.

We also remember the compassion that brought communities together. May today serve as an important reminder that even in our darkest moments, hope lives in the people who show up for one another.

May we honor their memory by choosing kindness, serving our communities, and standing beside those who need us most. ❤️

🌟 September Volunteer Spotlight 🌟

What inspired David Silliman to become a CASA volunteer?

Before joining CASA, David spent many years serving as a Sunday school teacher and youth leader. In 2017, a presentation by the CASA director and a volunteer at his church opened his eyes to the experiences of children moving from place to place without the stability of a permanent, loving home.

The message touched David’s heart and inspired him to take action. In 2018, he completed CASA volunteer training, where he learned how to advocate for children, make thoughtful observations, and provide valuable information to the court.

We are honored to feature David and the compassionate heart that led him to become a CASA volunteer. ❤️💙

Check back next Tuesday to learn more about David's experience as a volunteer!

Happy Labor Day from Lehigh County CASA!

Today we celebrate the dedication, compassion, and hard work of those who make our communities stronger.

We're especially grateful for our incredible CASA volunteers, child welfare professionals, foster families, educators, first responders, healthcare workers, and everyone who works each day to help children feel safe, supported, and hopeful.

While many enjoy a well-deserved day of rest, children in foster care still need caring adults who will stand beside them. Every child deserves someone who will show up, speak up, and never give up.

💙 This Labor Day, thank you to everyone whose work, whether paid or volunteered, helps build brighter futures for children.
