In the January 2026 edition of America's Pharmacist, National Community Pharmacists Association Board President Kristen Riddle shares something many mothers in pharmacy know all too well: the weight of guilt.

"If we're at the pharmacy, we feel guilty for not being home. If we're home, we feel guilty for not being at the pharmacy. Moms carry that," she says.

Her message to moms in pharmacy is both simple and powerful:
"You are called to be both. You can be an amazing pharmacist and an amazing mom."

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there—especially those juggling their professional and personal lives, those who feel like they're falling short, and those whose motherhood journeys are filled with heartache. You are strong, resilient, and courageous.

A recent Deseret Magazine feature tells the story of Nick Bryce, an independent pharmacist who reopened the only pharmacy in Heber-Overgaard, Arizona — eliminating an hour-long drive for thousands of rural patients.
