Featuring Varied Approaches and Multidisciplinary Collaborations

A distinguished faculty of clinicians, educators, researchers, and others
offer an inspiring program of papers, panels, half-day workshops,
and full-day classes; many emphasize hands-on, active participation. STRONGER TOGETHER
That has been our guiding principle in creating the Expressive Therapies Summit. After a half century of wo

rking in parallel process, it's time for us to gather and learn from each other, and work collaboratively toward the long term success of the expressive arts therapies. CREATIVE and EXPRESSIVE
We refer to ourselves variously: Creative Arts Therapists, Arts Psychotherapists, Expressive Therapists. Not only do we help others, we do so creatively, using one or more of the fine and performing arts. Not limiting ourselves to a single muse or treatment model, we enable others to express their innermost selves, regardless of age, language, or ability.

Supporting someone living with a mental health condition starts with understanding. When we learn about what our loved ones are experiencing, we can respond with deeper empathy, confidence, and care.

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation, it happens in community. Let's continue using the expressive arts to heal, connect, and remind each other: there is hope, and there is help.

This , we are reflecting on a vital truth: when we focus on the person rather than a diagnosis, we create deeply supportive, life-changing conversations.

Safe, respectful communication is especially crucial during times of transition or vulnerability. For creative arts therapists, creating an environment of safety begins with the words we choose and the spaces we curate. Compassionate words signal safety when people need it most, opening the door for profound creative healing.

Let’s remember that mental health touches every single one of us. Together, we can change the narrative—one intentional conversation at a time.

Supporting youth mental health is a shared responsibility. Families, educators, healthcare providers, and creative therapists all play a vital role in early identification and care.

This , we are highlighting the power of connection and creative expression in helping children and teens process complex emotions. When we give them the tools to express themselves freely, we build a foundation for lifelong healing.

We know that deep grief and military trauma don’t always fit into conventional language. For the veterans, families, and communities navigating these echoes of service, the creative arts offer a vital bridge where words alone might fall short.

We honor the fallen, support the living, and stand with the clinicians using the power of creative healing to mend the visible and invisible wounds of war. Wishing our entire community a gentle, meaningful, and restorative day.

Art isn't just good for the soul—it’s biological medicine. 🎨✨

A groundbreaking new study from University College London shows that engaging with arts and culture can slow biological aging as much as physical exercise. Researchers found that both how often we engage with the arts and the variety of creative activities we choose play a massive role in our overall health and longevity.

For Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s remember that creative expression is a vital pillar of holistic well-being. Whether it's painting, visiting a gallery, or making music, your practice is actively restoring your mind and body.

The world is asking a great deal of clinicians right now.

While many trainings focus only on what you can give your clients, Cultivating Calm was designed to support both your clinical work and your own sustainability as a helping professional. More importantly, it offers something many clinicians are craving: space to truly engage, reflect, ask questions, and connect with colleagues who understand the complexity of this work.

Hands-on, experiential training for therapists, counselors, social workers, educators, and trauma professionals seeking practical tools for regulation, resilience, and restoration.
