A serious matter.
Christian Extremism is no longer a fringe movement, it has moved from the pews into the Pentagon, the White House, and the halls of Congress. From the belief that unconditional US support for Israel is not just a foreign policy choice but a biblical mandate, to the war on Iran, genocide in Gaza, and bombings across the Middle East, Christian extremists in the U.S. government belive they are fulfilling end-times prophecy.
PTrump's personal spiritual adviser Paula White-Cain, runs the White House Faith Office. She has publicly declared that "to say no to Trump is to say no to God," claimed demonic forces stole the 2020 election, and is militantly pro-Israel. She helped move the US Embassy to Jerusalem, helped broker the Abraham Accords, and met privately with Netanyahu. One conservative journalist recently described her as a "psychopath doomsday cultist" and she has a White House office and the president's ear.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has turned the Pentagon into something resembling a church. He hosts Christian prayer services during work hours, sponsors a weekly Bible study whose leader teaches that God blesses Israel's allies and curses its enemies, and has invited a pastor who opposes women's right to vote and calls for the US to become a Christian theocracy. He has publicly called for a "crusade" against Islam and he is the civilian leader of the most powerful military force on the planet.
Since the US-Israeli bombing of Iran began, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation has received over 200 complaints from troops across every branch of the military spanning more than 40 units and at least 30 installations. Their commanders have been telling them the war is "biblically sanctioned" and that Trump was "anointed by Jesus to light the signal fire in Iran to cause Armageddon and mark his return to Earth." This is not new. After October 7, 2023, the same organization received complaints about an Air Force commander who told troops the war with Hamas "has all been foretold by the Book of Revelation and no one can do anything about that."
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson publicly called Islam a "misguided religion" from Congress to justify the bombing of Iran, drawing widespread condemnation from Muslim civil rights organizations who demanded he retract the remarks.
US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee told Tucker Carlson that the Bible gives Israel the right to land stretching from the Nile to the Euphrates, a statement so extreme that Egypt, Jordan, and even the Trump administration were forced to distance themselves from it.
What connects all of these figures is a worldview that sees US support for Israel as a biblical obligation, views the Middle East through the lens of end-times prophecy, is inherently and violently islamophobic, and believes this moment in history is divinely ordained. That
