Up-Stitch

Up-Stitch is a creative reuse organization that collects sewing materials and sells them back to the crafting community at an affordable rate.

Our goal is to improve the planet by reducing our local carbon footprint through the recycling of fabric and yarn. By re-circulating these materials to the community, we keep them out of landfills and put them back into the hands of people that can use them. We offer an alternative, unique, local choice for sewers and knitters to shop. We create a sense of community that comes with sharing and helping others in their quest to create.

We've got mohair mania at Up-Stitch! Tons of mohair options for weaving, knitting, and crocheting (or anything else your creative fiber art heart can come up with!). Looking for a specific color of our cone yarns and don't see it on the store floor? Ask one of our volunteers for help - we've got even more in the back! We've priced these yarns to sell, so come on in and stock up for your next big project.

Attention needlepoint artists: we have a collection of hand-painted canvases ready for your projects (not to mention a vast array of yarns and embroidery flosses to choose the perfect colors from)!

Up-Stitch wishes you a Happy Mother's Day!

We will be open from 1pm - 4pm this Sunday, May 10th.

The first 13 customers to check out on Mother's Day will receive a free set of placemats handmade by our volunteer Lynn DeMaria.

This week at Up-Stitch - attention stitchers! We have an expanded selection of stitching threads for a wide variety of crafts. A rainbow of embroidery floss, perle cotton, darning thread, candlewick yarn, novelty floss, and much, much more! Come check it out!

It's also the second Sunday of the month, so we'll be open both Saturday and Sunday from 1pm - 4pm!

Up-Stitch is run on donations, helping keep good craft materials out of the landfill, and allowing items to be more accessible to the community with lower prices than buying "new." We'd like to tell you about where a large amount of our current fabric, weaving yarn, and many other materials came from: the collection of Janet Mikkola Rosenberg.

Janet has been placed in long-term care, and her husband Bob has been bringing us her well-organized supplies to be used in the shop. In store you can see some of Janet's beautiful work on display beside her quilting fabrics that have been donated. Please join us in extending a deep gratitude to Bob for his kindness in bringing the donations to the store, and to Janet for her dedication to making beautiful art for all these years. Thank you!

This week at Up-Stitch: We have a vintage sewing machine we're giving away for free! While the machine does work, it is in need of some repair. If you're willing to take it away and spruce it up, this could be a perfect starter machine for an aspiring sewist.

Don't forget, we have fabrics, notions, and supplies of all kinds in store - be sure to stop in during our usual hours, Wednesday 10am - 1pm, and Saturday 1pm -4pm!

Will you be donating at the Spring Recycle Fest at Elm Ave in Delmar this Saturday? It goes from 10am - 1pm - which is perfect, because Up-Stitch is open from 1pm - 4pm! After you've dropped off your donations, come by the store to browse our newly donated high-quality mohair and angora yarns. Looking for something sweet? We've also got a huge variety of Caron Cakes yarns in store, perfect for colorful yarncrafts of all kinds.

We hope to see you whether you're dropping donations off in Delmar, or buying something from the store that perfectly fits your crafting needs!
