Rhythmix Cultural Works brings people of all ages together to experience and explore music, dance, visual art and educational opportunities. The organization seeks to build community by inspiring engagement in the arts as a way to learn about each other and the world. With a strong commitment to provide programming relevant to the local population, Rhythmix strives to promote cultural awareness, encourage participation in the arts, and support artists in the presentation of their work.

Exhibit Dates: September 11 ā€“ October 25
Alamedaā€™s hopes to mitigate climate change are stitched together by the community to send a message that our combined efforts can be a Stitch in Time towards a better future.

The Climate Wave (2024-25) project invited the community to write on upcycled, hand dyed indigo fabric strips, sharing what they were currently doing to prevent climate change, and what more they could do. The written climate concerns were tied together as a Climate Wave banner that grew as it gathered the voices from five Rhythmix Rising Seas events, Alamedaā€™s Sea Level Rise Adaptation Fair at REAP Climate Center and the In Plain Site exhibit on the Radium Runway.

A Stitch in Time (2026) was sewn together by a group of ā€œstitchersā€ meeting weekly for two months to connect the words of 183 participants from our community, to create a unified message of climate change hope.

Expressing themselves in everything from junk to clay, and ceramics to oil paint, 12 artists living or working within 12 miles of Rhythmix present the third installation of The Locals.

Curated by Ginny Parsons, The Locals showcases art created with an eclectic mix of materials and techniques including textured paintings, local landscapes, junk sculptures, sea urchin jewelry, ceramics, an interactive photo installation and more.

On display will be A Stitch in Time, sewn together by a group of ā€œstitchersā€ meeting weekly for two months to connect the words of 183 participants from our community, creating a unified message of climate change hope.

The Locals Artists: Charlie Sullivan, Maurice Ramirez, Pons Maar, Deb Sullivan, Ed Holmes, Hopi Breton, Kristina Kotlier, Marta Thoma Hall, Ginny Parsons, Natalie Jeng, Jan Watten and Janet Koike.

Meet these incredible artists at the Opening Reception and join local legend Michele Germany who will get us movinā€™ and groovinā€™ through a fun set of inclusive Soul Line Dance at 7:00pm. All are welcome!
