Kazumi Schmidgall enjoys playing the piano, hiking and kickboxing. The Shin-Issei high school math teacher had such an active and healthy life, she could hardly believe it when she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia and a lung infection in September.

My name is Kazumi and I am a American living in Arizona. I am a high school math teacher and have also taught at a Japanese weekend school for over two decades. I was diagnosed with in September of this year. After completing my first two rounds of the next step requires a transplant. The highest likelihood of a good match will be from someone of Japanese descent. I am reaching out to the Japanese community and am asking for your help.
