Medi-Cal changes are happening! ⚠️ Stay informed.
Major Medi-Cal changes continue, and many community members are being affected. EBAC is here to help you navigate these transitions and maintain your health coverage.
Extensions:
🗓️ People with Unsatisfactory Immigration Status (UIS) were previously to lose full-coverage dental benefits starting July 1, 2026. This has been extended to July 1, 2027. Anyone with UIS will still have full-coverage dental benefits until June 30, 2027.
🗓️ Asset limits for older adults and people with disabilities were to change July 1, 2026. This has been extended until July 1, 2027.
🗓️ 6 month eligibility checks (twice a year eligibility check or twice a year Medi-Cal renewals) will start March 2027, instead of January 2027.
Reclassification:
⚠️ On October 1, 2026, the federal government will reclassify some immigration statuses from satisfactory to unsatisfactory for federal funding purposes. If you are affected, you will get state-funded full-scope Medi-Cal until June 30, 2027.
As Scheduled:
🩺 Jan 1, 2027, people with full-scope coverage and Unsatisfactory Immigration Status will move from a managed care plan to a fee for service plan. This changes how you get care, not whether you can keep Medi-Cal. Medi-Cal will still cover services.
