Life Ed Whanganui https://www.lifeeducation.org.nz/regions/wanganui-and-districts Who are we? You may have heard your children mention Harold, but who is he?

Life Education Trust Whanganui and Districts services the Wanganui, Ruapehu and Rangitīkei regions, teaching local children about caring for their health and wellbeing. Harold’s Life Ed Wanganui is officially known as the Harold Club, based in Wanganui and run by a board of members who ensure the continued service of the Life Education Trust classroom in the Wanganui, Rangitikei and Ruapehu regio

n. Life Education Trust is New Zealand’s largest health education provider, it is a not-for-profit organisation that works in schools to educate and inspire children and young people to make positive life choices. Specialist Teachers visit schools in their mobile classroom delivering memorable and interactive lessons throughout New Zealand. While Life Education Trust is a national organisation, each region is responsible for their own classroom and Teacher which relies on sponsorship and funding to maintain the mobile classroom and resources. The healthy Harold program is aimed at primary aged students and delivered by Mark Keelty to our tamiriki. Together, he and Harold (the giraffe), visit over 4,500 children in 40+ schools educating in areas such as: food and nutrition, human biology, relationships and communities, identity and resilience and substances. Life Education is the major supplier of health education in our schools, and within these areas Mark covers up-to-date topical issues such as substance awareness (including va**ng), bullying, anxiety and cyber wellbeing. The Healthy Harold programme plays an essential role in our children’s learning and development. Harold is well known and loved by the children, learning with him is fun and engaging and they very much look forward to his visit. The Harold Club Wanganui is run by a board who are dedicated to ensuring the service of Life Education in our region. Our team works hard to maintain the valued relationships with our sponsors in order to remain independent from government funding. This is because private funding is essential to ensure the education program can respond quickly to school concerns and our program is not restricted by government policy or political influence. Harold’s Life Ed Wanganui welcomes sponsorship to assist in their efforts in maintaining the education program in the region. Please visit https://www.lifeeducation.org.nz for a comprehensive guide to our education program.

Harold was stoked to be at the finish line when Neko, from Durie Hill School, came sliding across. His mum, Katie Brown (glass blower extraordinaire), is one of our amazing supporters. She has been so incredibly generous in helping to keep Harold in our schools. Please think about her impressive collection of artworks when thinking about gifts for loved ones, or times when you may need some quality retail therapy.
Well done, Neko, for the phenomenal attitude and determination you showed today to get to the finish line.

Harold had the most amazing day at the Mitre 10 Mega Tough Kid Challenge.
Thank you so much Sport Whanganui, particularly Quinn, and Hayden and Sarah Gibson from Mitre 10 Mega Whanganui for your absolute professionalism.
It is a privilege and a pleasure to be able to be a part of it.
A huge thank you to all of the amazing children that were in attendance today. The support and respect you showed Harold was heart warming. A big shout out to Mia A (hope your name is spelt correctly, apologies if it isn’t) from Whanganui East School for helping to get Harold around the course this morning. He wouldn’t have made it without your encouragement 🦒😁. The photos of you and Harold on the course, and at the finish line will be sent to your school.
Attached are a few photos of Harold enjoying his time at the Mitre 10 Mega Whanganui Tough Kid Challenge.
