And some more photos from today, 3 October. It was parkrun's 22nd birthday today so we had the tutus out for a bit of a celebration 🎂

It is so cool to think parkrun was going almost 20 years before our wee event was even a twinkle in our EDs' eyes. We are one event of over 2500, with more than 3500 finishes out of an amazing 90 million! We may be a small event, but together we are mighty!

Check out parkun's blog post, it's a good read. https://blog.parkrun.com/nz/2026/09/29/celebrate-22together-22-years-of-parkrun/

We had an unexpectedly drizzly, but exciting morning at parkrun today! Nice early start for some with a decent shake at 3am, before 54 of us headed out to walk, jeff, run, woggle and volunteer.

Half of our participants were visitors today, from Wellington, Upper Hutt, Kāpiti, Masterton, Napier, Tauranga, Auckland and Whangārei. We love visitors, come back any time!

We had lots of milestones today, Theo P-M with 10 parkruns, Peter E with 25 and Daniel G with 50, well done all. ⚪️ 🟣 🔴

It was Jennie's turn to take the black shirt for an impressive 100th volunteer today. Jennie started out marshalling at the swingbridge with a speaker, dress up and a great deal of aplomb before taking on an RD role which she has done beautifully. We can always count on Jennie for a bit of a party vibe at parkrun. 🥳 Thanks for all you do 🧡 ⚫️

Shout also the Buscke Whānau, with Bailey and Graeme taking first and second tokens and Katrina first female. Bailey also got highest age grade, an amazing run on a trail course! Ka mau te wehi 🏃‍♂️

See you next time...

Join us this Saturday for parkrun's 22nd birthday! parkrun started in London's Bushy Park in 2004 with 13 runners and 5 volunteers (a bit like on a freezing day for us now!)

Today parkrun is operating in over 2500 locations across 23 countries, with about 390,000 participants plus 43,000 juniors getting out there every week 💜

Tutus are encouraged to join in the celebration 🍾 usual times are on, see you there!

Another nice fine day for our 38 runnners, walkers and volunteers! We had visitors from Ngāruawāhia (Te Ara), Upper Hutt (Trentham Memorial) and Wellington (Waitangi).

Congratulations to Orla and Joe on their 25 🟣 milestones achieved today 👏

Honourable mention to the Harvey whānau too, Shaun taking the first token and highest male age grade, Emily getting a PB, Tommy with most parkruns and William doubling back for another go around! Great mahi!

Leah, Darcey and John also smashed out PBs of their own today and Laura got the much sought after Palindrome challenge (ifkyk 😅)

We'd love to see you out there next week 💜

Thank you to the park participants who laced up and joined us by the river on Saturday for Event #118 👍

We welcomed visitors from Kapiti, Palmerston North, Auckland and Whangarei - we hope you enjoyed our scenic track and the fresh Ohakune air.

Congratulations also to everyone who smashed out a new Personal Best (PB) today! 🚀

✨ An extra special thank you to our incredible team of high-vis heroes. Without you standing out there cheering us on, checking the course, and timing our finishes, this event wouldn’t happen. You are the absolute heartbeat of our parkrun 💕
