🥕🌱 Fresh Direct Ohakune Carrot Carnival is BACK for 2026! 🌱🥕

It is officially Fresh Direct Ohakune Carrot Carnival season!
We’re warming things up for another year of celebrating our growers, our community, and the veggies that put Ohakune on the map.

Over the past few months, our local growers have been flat stick - planting, tending, waiting, and now beginning to lift the first crops of the 2026 season from the ground. It’s months of early mornings and late nights, muddy boots and hard work, and we can’t wait to celebrate the people and produce behind it all with you.

Lets take a moment to slow down today to acknowledge the land that provides for us and the harvest and growth we’ve been gifted throughout the year.

Matariki is a reminder of how deeply connected we are; to the land that feeds us, to the seasons that guide us, and to the communities that support and nurture each other. A chance to plant new seeds of hope and growth, and to look forward to brighter days and abundant harvests ahead.

🎉 That’s a Wrap for 2025! 🎉

We’re signing off for the Fresh Direct Ohakune Carrot Carnival 2025 – what an epic day! We’re so glad the weather held out enough for us to continue and bring you this amazing event once again. 🥕

We had an absolute blast and we hope you all did too! ❤️

Stay tuned over the next week – we’ll be sharing the first batch of photos from the day, so you can relive all the carrot-tastic fun!

A huge thank you to the incredible committee who volunteer countless hours over many months to make this event happen, and to our amazing generous sponsors – you’re the reason we can keep this magic alive year after year. 🙌

🥕🎉 ONE MORE SLEEP TO GO!!!!!!! 🎉🥕

Now come the nitty-gritty details, that we ask you all please have a read of prior to attending the Fresh Direct Ohakune Carrot Carnival TOMORROW! 🎉

📌 Housekeeping Reminders:

Carnival Hours: Fresh Direct Ohakune Carrot Carnival will run 10am - 3pm.

Competition Entries: Entries for the Carrot Cake Competition and Carrot Creations must be dropped off between 8:30am - 9:30am to the Cake Stand, inside the RFFP Relax Zone.

ATM: There is no ATM on site, and not all stalls have the facilities to take Eftpos, so to save potential disappointment, it's recommended to visit one of the ATMs located near New World on Goldfinch Street, prior to attending the Carnival.

Pet-free Zone: We ask that you please leave your furry friends at home this year, as the Carnival will be a pet-free zone. This is to ensure the comfort and safety of all attendees and stall holders. There will be a small handful of Avalanche dogs on site, so please be mindful of this if you have an allergy or are uncomfortable around dogs.

Cleanliness is Key: Let's keep our carnival grounds sparkling clean! There will be rubbish and recycling stations available throughout the venue, so please ensure that you are using these appropriately.

Restroom Facilities: Restrooms are conveniently located at the entrance near the inflatables and also up the other end of the venue, near the food court.

Positive Engagement: Please ensure that all engagement with other attendees and participants throughout the day is positive and encouraging, this is a fun family event.

The Ron Frew Family Partnership Relax Zone is back again this year at the Fresh Direct Ohakune Carrot Carnival – and it's better than ever! 🌟

👶🧸 Thanks to the generous support of the Waimarino Toy Library for lending us some beautiful toys, we’ve got a safe and fun spot for the little ones to play while you take a well-earned break. With comfortable seating also brought to us from Ethical Waste, colourful toys, and a chance to unwind – what more could you ask for?

🥕🎂 Plus! In a late but exciting change, this will also be the home for the Carrot Cake Competition and Carrot Creation entries this year. Come check out the impressive creations and maybe get inspired for next year’s baking showdown!

The Fresh Direct Ohakune Carrot Carnival is going ahead this weekend — and we couldn’t be more excited, we’re so ready to celebrate. Keep an eye out for the full program to follow on Friday — it’s jam-packed with fun, games, and entertainment for the whole whānau.

The weather can always surprise us here in the Ruapehu region, so please come prepared for all weather situations.

🌧️🥕 WEATHER WATCH – FRESH DIRECT OHAKUNE CARROT CARNIVAL 🥕🌧️

Yes, unfortunately, we’ve seen the forecast too — there’s a weather front moving across the country, and like you, we’re crossing our fingers for clear skies!

We want to be straight with you: we’re keeping a very close eye on the conditions and working behind the scenes to make the best call for everyone involved. This is a huge day for our community, and we’re doing everything we can to make it happen.

👉 We’ll make an official call on Wednesday on whether we can safely go ahead this Saturday.

We understand many of you will have questions — and while we may not be able to answer everything just yet, please know we’ll provide as much information as possible on Wednesday to support whatever decision is made.

We know how much this event means to so many people — from stallholders and performers to families planning their big day out — and we appreciate your patience while we monitor things closely.
