Hi Everyone .
Hey if your keen to help out on Tuesday 29th Sept at 4pm we are meeting out at the Porirua Harbour to take advantage of the super low 0.4m tide to remove tyres and other junk in the water.
The weather forecast is looking perfect with sun and no wind.
There are tyres , clothing and rubbish in the water we need to remove so wear old shoes/gumboots /old clothes and be prepared to get wet up to knee high.
We will meet at the Waka/boat ramp on the corner of Wi Neera Drive , opposite the WelTec campus. Just look for the beach clean up flags

(Note low tide isnt until 6pm so if you cant make 4pm, any time onwards is fine as we will be working out there until 7pm ish)

wayne also needs some help getting his tyre up the boat ramp on Tuesday as well 🤣

On Saturday an amazing team from Porirua City Council undertook a deep clean-up around Waihora Park. Maxine, Wayne and Paul had been invited to join them.
The area had recently been planted in natives.
Much of the rubbish was 'layered' - as we removed one layer we found more underneath, and more and more ......
Finding a car axle, Maxine decided to do a gym workout while Paul ended up with paint all over him after he found a half full pail - which is now empty.
Four hours later six truck loads of rubbish had been taken away. There is still plenty to do.

Teamwork is what its all about.

Keep Lower Hutt Beautiful Volunteers "Clean Up" at Awards

An amazing night last Wednesday at the Wellington Airport Regional Community Awards for Lower Hutt.

Previous Keep New Zealand Beautiful volunteers of the month Chris Clifton and Lucy Worthington both received Civic Honour awards for voluntary community service.

Lorraine, also a former KNZB Volunteer of the Month, from Wellington Coast Clean-Up Crew won the Community Award in the Heritage and Environment section with Keep Hutt Valley Beautiful receiving the same award as runner up.

Thank you Wellington Airport and Hutt City Council for recognizing the effort that these volunteers have put in over the years and for a truly beautiful evening.

On a beautiful Wellington Sunday morning over 20 volunteers teamed up with Wellington Coast Clean-Up Crew and Moera Community House and got stuck in to clean up around the Moera area. The usual array of trash was collected including a shopping trolley, a tyre and a push bike.
Thanks to everyone who gave up an hour and a half of their time to help out and to Keep Moera Beautiful. And a special thanks to Cindy from Shady Lady Lighting who made it all worthwhile by providing the best morning tea yet!
