Lions Club of Lower Hutt - Host Inc & Charitable Trust The Lions Club of Lower Hutt (Host) was chartered in 1961, and was the first Lions club in the Hutt Valley (hence Host). Lions Club of Lower Hutt (Host) Inc.

now have EFTPOS available at both the TRAIN and the MINI GOLF. Train rides $2 per person. Under 2's free. Mini golf game $3 per person. Open weekends 1-4pm weather permitting. Also school holidays and public holidays (excluding Christmas day and Good Friday)

Our membership currently sits at 26. We normally have a business meeting on the first Tuesday of the month, and on the third Tuesday, we usually have an interesting guest speaker. At every meeting we have a meal and operate a bar. Almost all of our meetings are over by 9PM. Our Mission is To Serve The Community. To do this the Club provides financial support or people power. Members run the train and golf at Avalon Park. The income money from these is used to support people and charities. Members do maintenance on the train and golf. We also support some charities by taking part in their fund raising days. WE’VE BEEN BUSY GETTING OUR HANDS DIRTY!

Who says volunteering has to be boring? 😜 As part of Environmental Week, the Lower Hutt Lions headed down to Avalon Park and got stuck into some serious tree planting! 🌳💪

Together we planted an awesome 31 trees:
🌳 1 beautiful specimen tree
🌴 20 Nikau palms
🌿 10 Rewarewa trees

There was plenty of digging, planting, teamwork, laughs… and probably a little bit of mud too! 😂
And the best part? We’re helping make our local community a little greener for everyone to enjoy.

Want to get involved? We are always looking for new members to join us! You don’t need to know anything about trees, digging or even how to use a shovel 😂 — just bring yourself and a willingness to have some fun and help out in the community. From environmental projects to community events and everything in between, there’s always something happening!

🦁 LIONS LEGACY | LOWER HUTT LIONS

Built in 1975. Still bringing generations along for the ride.

In 1975, Lower Hutt Lions built the Avalon Park miniature railway and train — creating a family attraction that has become a much-loved part of the community.

Nearly 50 years later, it is still operating today, run by Lions volunteers for families to enjoy.

Lower Hutt Lions also built the Avalon Park mini-golf a couple of years late in 1981, which remains another lasting part of the park.

These are the kinds of projects that show what Legacy really means — not just service in the moment, but something created by Lions that communities can still enjoy for generations.

That is Legacy.

Hello everyone the Lions Train at Avalon Park is out of service this weekend as it has gone into the shop for some rust removal and other repairs. Mini golf will be open 1 to 4pm weather dependant of course. Thankyou for your support
