Riding With Olivia - Cycling Without Age Lower Hutt Spreading joy & happiness by giving free cycle rides to those who can no longer ride themselves Olivia loved cycling and was extremely generous.

Riding with Olivia is the Lower Hutt chapter of the global Cycling Without Age and was established for the principal reason of providing a living and dynamic memorial to Olivia Marchant. Olivia was a much loved nurse in Lower Hutt for 24 years working at several medical facilities including Te Omanga Hospice. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer during the first week of COVID lockdown in March 20

20 and bravely endured nearly two years of chemotherapy and surgery before her death in January 2022. On many occasions she would pick up old friends from various aged care facilities and drive them to a nearby beach or park for a little walk and ice cream or coffee. Cycling Without Age was seen as the perfect vehicle to keep the memory of Olivia alive in Lower Hutt, hence Riding With Olivia was born. Visit our website to read more about Olivia.

A perfect day for our weekly ride with the Laura Ferguson residents. ☀️❄️

Today we ventured along the beautiful Te Ara Tupua track, passing so many people out enjoying the sunshine walking, scootering, biking, and running. It's always a reminder of how special our local community is.

Featured in the video is Pilot Kelly and passenger Norm, making the most of the crisp winter afternoon with plenty of smiles along the way.

These rides are about so much more than getting from A to B they're about connection, fresh air, shared stories, and creating moments that brighten someone's day. 💙

.With the wonderful weather and with the enormous popularity of the new Te Ara Tupua shared path, it has been a fantastic couple of weeks for Riding with Olivia. Lots of requests for rides and for people wanting to join as volunteer pilots / riders. And we are now doing weekly rides for organisations like Thumbs Up and the Laura Fergusson Trust. All very exciting and so much fun!

Just one word for it - "WOW".
What a game changer for Riding With Olivia.
Yes, all future Riding With Olivia customers are in for a treat now that the Petone to Ngauranga [Te Ara Tupua] Cycle-way has opened TODAY. Our first riders for this section, John and his wife Helen, were booked in a fortnight ago, and took the 12 km return ride from the The Flying Bean Coffee Cart to the end of the new cycle-way this morning. It was a fantastic experience with hundreds of other cyclists and walkers.
