Today was our last round robin game,
We played the mighty NaeNae Gold team. Another game played in great spirits and importantly for PWMC we came away with a win, leaving us teatering with results falling our way a possible appearance in the semifinal.
Great bowling today from the boys restricting NaeNae to 126 off their allotted 20 overs. We achieved our target in the 18th over, helping our run rate. Congrats to Aaron, Paul and Darin who got us through.
Lastly thank you Brian, and Gareth who hosted us at the clubhouse afterwards.

Another week closer to the finals and sadly for Petone, they were beaten by Stokes Valley with 1 ball to spare. Congratulations to Stokes Valley on a good game played in good spirit. We hope to meet you again and reverse the result.
For our team great batting by Sai, Sam,Lee and Quentin got us a competitive score. Whilst we bowled far fewer extras we could not defend the total.

Today we were very excited to defend our hold on the Jack Baker Shield. The first time we have back to back won 3 victories since 1973. Shaun, and his team thank you for a fantastic day and we look forward to coming together at Easter to make a challenge to RWMC at Easter.

Monday Wellington Anniversary we have our traditional game against Te Aroha at Sladden Park starting at 11am. The weather gods have not been forgiving this week and as a result our T20 Saturday fixture has been cancelled and we have been moved to an artificial wicket.
We look at defending our hold on the Jack Baker Shield after a rare win last year.
A big thank you to Noel Woods and his committee with hosting and working the logistics out.

Another Sunny Saturday and another win from the Petone Working Men's Club T20 team. Well done lads. Upper Hutt came out strong and we thought we would be chasing a lot of leather. Quentin Henderson well done with the ball and the bat. A great effort again with the ball and bat Lee Ewington, Damon Daker-Fiddes good bowling again. Davis Wilson a fantastic start with the ball and a hard day in the field but you picked yourself up again and kept going. SamTraynor another solid performance with the Bat. Good catches by Darin Ponte-Towgood, Sai SuManth, Jimmy Wilson and wicket keeper Sam Traynor, (just saying Zane wouldn't have dropped one mate...).

A big thank you to the Dreamboats the way they play the game and for two of their batsmen walking when they were caught behind. Something to be proud of and not very common these days, we all play to win but not at all costs.
We look forward to meeting you again in the return round. Best of luck with the next game.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1AqTSkCq3k/?mibextid=wwXIfr congrats to Glen Neal and Aaron Havill for making the Wellington over 50’s IPT for over 50’s. Well done lads.

The following 27 cricketers have been selected to represent the Wellington Firehawks at the National Interprovincial Tournament (IPT) being held in Wellington from 5-9 March 2026. Congratulations to all those selected, including a number of our “youth pathway players” who will be making their IPT debuts in the 50s division. Both teams will be striving to keep up the very high standards of the past two years where we have made the finals in both divisions.

The IPT continues to grow from strength to strength with the 2026 Wellington edition expanding to 6 teams in both divisions. It is going to be fantastic to see new teams and new friends joining the 50s whanau, from Otago, Central Districts and Northern Districts, as we continue to develop the game in Aotearoa New Zealand.

It is however, tinged with some sadness as our mates from Tasman that have been part of the Firehawks whanau since 2018 join Central Districts from 2026. I am sure that there will be some healthy competition and great laughs when we see our Tasman brothers suited up in green in March 2026.

Go well Firehawks (both old and new). Soar high.

A good win for the PWMC T 20 yesterday played in good spirits against Naenae Gold at Sladden Park.
A great bowling and fielding to restrict NaeNae after a strong start.

A fantastic batting effort led by Aaron Havill who is also our shirt sponsor Home Services.
That leaves the team in second place with 2 wins from 3 games.
