Our team are here available to support māmā on their breastfeeding journey. The Whāngai Pēpē team provides free breastfeeding support for Māori and Pacific whānau in Te Awa Kairangi and whānau enrolled in Te Rūnanganui o Te Āti Awa Services. The team offer

- home visits for those who can't get to the clinic
- Phone and online consults



Whāngai Pēpē is based at the Kōkiri Puketapu building, 148 Whites Line East, Waiwhetu. Our kaimahi are currently available on Monday - Friday. To make an appointment with one of our breastfeeding kaimahi, please email [email protected]


The Breastfeeding Support Service aims to improve infant health and wellbeing by providing māmā, pēpi and their wider whānau with breastfeeding information, guidance and education. Whāngai Pēpē sits under the korowai of Te Rūnanganui o Te Āti Awa. Whāngai Pēpē can refer māmā and their whānau to

Te Rā Mokopuna (National Safe Sleep Day) 2025

"Poipoia te kakano, kia puawai - Nurture the seed and it will blossom"

Today is a day for us all to educate ourselves and our whānau on safe sleep education. See below the safe sleep tips.

SUDI (Sudden Unexpected Death in Infants) is preventable, and the risk factors for our babies can be significantly reduced should the right steps be taken.

Our Whāngai Pēpē team, Tamariki Ora team and the Awatai Midwives are available to provide safe sleep education and free safe sleep devices * to Māori and Pasifika māmā and their whānau in Te Awa Kairangi.
*Criteria applies

Wainuiomata Breastfeeding Drop-in Clinic on hold until further notice

Our Whāngai Pēpē team though are still available to provide FREE breastfeeding support to Māori māmā, Pasifika māmā and other māmā enrolled in Te Rūnanganui o Te Āti Awa Services in Te Awa Kairangi.

The team is available Monday - Friday to provide the following;
- clinic appointments (Waiwhetū & Wainuiomata)
- home visits *
- phone or online consults
- antenatal breastfeeding education
