Look what happens when some fantastic people have a vision - and they find other that share the same values. Huge shout out to Upper Harbour Youth Council, Hobsonville Yacht Club and Habitat Hobsonville for making this event such a success.

50 amazing volunteers got out there and made a difference - and they will be doing it again in March and August next year.

Every piece of rubbish removed is a positive step towards a healthier place for our native species 💙💚

It's an early start but it will be worth it when you see the pile of rubbish that gets saved from heading out to our precious oceans.

Join local volunteers, get stuck in and lend a hand. We'll provide buckets and gloves - you need to bring the energy and be dressed for the probably muddy conditions.

Everyone welcome, the more people = the more rubbish we collect!

We are busy getting our new native plants ready for a predicted dry summer, you can do the same in your garden too. A thick (100mm) layer of mulch is a great way to improve soil quality, increase moisture retention and reduce the surface temperature around plants roots.

Any mulch will do - rotting leaves, broken up branches and twigs, garden waste.

Your garden will thank you for the action you take now 💚

Now, we aren't teachers but this headline struck us as a bit odd... no mention of climate change to students who will be leading businesses to make critical decisions, living through the impacts of climate change and inheriting the issues future generations have created? Surely it should be a critical topic to be raising all through the school years?

Year 11 is when students can really start specialising in subjects so it could mean some students never get taught about this topic.

We're incredibly grateful to the numerous amazing teachers out there that make sure they cover this subject with passion, knowledge and aroha to help build a positive picture of our roles in reversing the damage. Please keep up the good work and we'll help anyway we can💚

Children will learn about money management and the origins of Moriori but not about climate change in their first 10 years at school thanks to newly-published curriculums.

What an amazing group of humans - bringing energy, smiles, aroha, and a whole load of helping hands to plant approximately 1,000 trees to protect a precious waterway in Whenuapai. The World Mission Society Church of God volunteers smashed through planting in some testing, muddy conditions at the Living Whenuapai project at Waiarohia Stream.

Thanks to Healthy Waters and Upper Harbour Local Board for supporting this project.

The 2nd Annual Community Planting Day at the Kai Rākau - NZ Food Tree Project was an amazing afternoon. The team behind the day, including the Sustainable Paremoremo sure know how to hold a community day. More special plants in the ground and another step closer to a food forest for all.

Think we could get used to a digger filling wheelbarrows 🤣
