It's time to roll up your sleeves, grab your gumboots and join us to make a difference to Lucas Creek by removing that rubbish and waste that's just about to head out to the ocean. We'll be taking action and would love for you to help us make even more impact.

If you or your company would like to support us then we would love a solution as to how we can get a BBQ on site! Any contributions you may be able to make to the refreshments on the day for the fantastic volunteers would also be very appreciated.

Thanks to Mountains to Sea Conservation Trust for supporting this and FlexiBin for sponsoring the rubbish bags we'll be using.

We do ask that you register to come along so we know how many buckets, gloves and sausages to bring along 😀 https://events.humanitix.com/upper-waitemata-coastal-clean-up

Let's make the most of the summer evenings while we can. A great way to enjoy the last bits of summer, explore your local area AND help us protect this special habitat. Your actions will help native plants, birds and butterflies, including the very special Banded Rail by helping the plants that provide food and nesting spots to thrive.

You don't need to have any knowledge about plants, we'll show you what to do, provide all the tools and work alongside you.

All for FREE, everyone is welcome. If you have any questions, reach out to [email protected] for more information.

How often do you take the time to just stand still and observe nature? Probably not often enough - so here's a great excuse to do just that 😀 November is monitoring month and to help us capture data we carry out 5 minute bird counts and would love your help. The more counts we do = the more data we have.

They are really simple to do, it will take no more than an hour and you can do them any day in November - how easy is that? Wonder along to your nearest reserve (or go and explore one you don't know so well) and just stand still for 5 minute.

Interested in finding out more then get in touch at [email protected]. We can provide all the info you need for you to succeed. Record the birds you know and don't worry about what you don't know.

It was an awesome afternoon on Saturday - we had students from Rangitoto College, Sylvia Yang (Upper Harbour Local Board) and local residents and keen volunteers come down and all lend a hand to help maintain the beautiful reserve.

We rescued a tui, removed garden weeds that were spreading through the bush and even planted a few native renga renga in their place. A great way to spend the afternoon. Thank you to everyone who contributed.

Huge thanks to everyone who dodged the showers with us, hiding under trees and ferns while the rain passed through on Saturday. We are delighted to say that the planting for the butterfly "garden" is now complete thanks to help from Rangitoto College students and local volunteers. We'll keep you up to date as we move into spring about how you can encourage butterflies to come to your garden.
