The NSS ACTiZEN Collective Programme 2026 kicked off in North Goa with an inspiring orientation on 18 August, bringing together young citizens, educators and civic leaders committed to building a better tomorrow.

We were honoured to hear from Mr. Pranav Nagarsekar, Engineer, Goa Waste Management Corporation; Mr. Nelson Paes, Combat Athlete, Coach and Youth Icon; and Dr. Nitin Sawant, Professor and State Coordinator, NSS, Goa University.

With solid waste management as this year’s state-level competition theme, students will work with local Panchayats, municipalities and the Goa Waste Management Corporation to identify real-world challenges and create solutions that make a difference.

This Independence Day, we asked students one simple question:
“What is one promise you will make to help build a better India?”

The response was overwhelming — 500 students shared their promises with us in just 6 days. ❤️

From keeping our surroundings clean to taking greater responsibility for our communities, these young citizens reminded us that building a better India begins with the choices we make every day.

Today, we’re sharing 10 promises that stood out to us — not because they were the “best”, but because each one reflects a student’s own vision for the India they want to see.

A heartfelt thank you to every student who participated and shared their voice.

Because every meaningful change begins with one promise. 🇮🇳

Happy Independence Day to all! Jai Hind 🇮🇳 🇮🇳

In Bhandiya, Madhya Pradesh, Ragini, a Grade 8 student, discovered that her young cousin’s marriage was being fixed.

Instead of staying silent, she drew on what she had learned through her ACTiZEN Club about Fundamental Duties and the importance of education.

With confidence built through the club’s role-play activities, Ragini spoke to her family and her cousin’s parents — and the marriage was cancelled.

A powerful reminder that active citizenship begins with being informed, finding the courage to speak up, and taking responsibility for change.

Congratulations to Arzoo Shama and the Madhya Pradesh team for presenting this month’s Soch Ki Baithak Spotlight Story.

What if students didn’t just learn about democracy—but experienced it firsthand?

‘ZILLA PARISHAD, PUNE’S ‘ACTiZEN BAL SANSAD PROGRAMME’ IN ASSOCIATION WITH DESH APNAYEN SAHAYOG FOUNDATION’ empowers students to participate in elections, form committees, raise questions, debate ideas, pass resolutions, and lead meaningful action in their schools and communities.

On 5 July 2026, Zilla Parishad Pune signed an MoU with Desh Apnayen Sahayog Foundation to bring the ACTiZEN Bal Sansad Programme to 200+ schools across the district. Starting this academic year, students of Classes VI, VII and VIII will experience democracy firsthand—by participating in elections, forming committees, holding Question Hour, and leading real civic action in their schools and neighbourhoods.

Because democracy isn’t just something you learn about—it’s something you practise.

“When learning steps out of textbooks, active citizenship comes alive.” ✨

Seeing our educators empower students through experiential role-play—from understanding the electoral process to taking real action for school cleanliness—proves the transformative impact of The ACTiZEN Club. Moments like these inspire students not just to learn about democracy, but to actively participate in building better communities. 🗳️🧹

A heartfelt thank you to Ms. Sushma Lalwani and Ms. Sangeeta Sonia for guiding our future ACTiZENs with such passion and dedication! 🌟

From classrooms to community conversations, Mega PTM 4.0 became an opportunity to showcase how the ACTiZEN Club is helping students learn beyond textbooks. Across government schools in Andhra Pradesh, parents, teachers, and school leaders witnessed firsthand how experiential activities such as Mock Elections, Mock Panchayat, Share the Load, and Rule Breakers or Law Keepers are nurturing leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and active citizenship.

The encouraging feedback from parents and educators reaffirms the importance of creating learning experiences that inspire students to become informed, responsible, and engaged citizens.
